Looks terrible but what else should we expect of BMW's marketing...ahem "design" dept. these days?
The new S-class is very attractive. Quite conservative for a new S-class as typically each generation goes in a new design direction, but there's no denying its very handsome.

The latest S class looks very drab to my eyes, the front looks very plain, the small portrait screen shoved in between the steering wheel and dash looks really cheap, the curved bank on the iX (and I guess the new 7 when it comes) looks much belter resolved and upmarket.
I'm also shocked at how cheap feeling many of the interior parts are in modern Mercs when you start to touch them, in complete contrast to the interior of my old R129 SL which whilst plain was solid as a rock which is why you paid the money.

And I trust that when these renders you've been worshiping are proven wrong you'll admit it too. 😎

I actually seeked out Pre LCI G12 bc I thought that the design was classic and it was timeless. I loved my F10… and the G12 pre LCI basically looks the same. New G30 looks great too.
There is a contingent of people who must have the latest (no judgement)…. But that update is a fail for me….. I'm prob going for a X7 in 2023 and I won't want a 7er if it looks like a Genesis xxxx whatever.

Mixed feelings for how this 7er looks. But just like the G80 it really grew on us. Wondering how it looks on graphite gray and on BBSs?

I just don't understand how other car companies can do a pretty good job of this split-headlight/DRL design (I'm thinking Hyundai with the Palisade, Kona, even Jeep with the Cherokee, and so many other car makers with other models), but the designers of the ultimate driving machine have been churning out these designs that totally lack cohesive flow. It looks like they're just randomly sticking bits and pieces from different vehicles and calling it a day. I know art is very subjective, but still....

Still the camo hides the grilles very well and you don't see how big they are in real life. |

This video seems to show a lot of details that aren't visible in most of the other shorter videos. The rather skinny rear tail lights wrapping around the side like the XM The shape of the boot/trunk and spoiler on it The lower bumper area The door handles in detail The interior door detail (seat adjustment and saved seat settings are touch LED) The dash area is definitely the iX/i4 style some shots of the rear seat area and back of the front seats The front grill area in quite a bit of detail... Most of which we had guessed or seen from a bit farther away in spy photos...but this video shows the close ups from plenty of angles to see more. Safe travels.

I edited my OP to include the actual new i7 to compare with the earlier renderings that some here said would not be nothing like the production. I'd say they were pretty damn close.
Except the fact that the grill is even more ginormous. |

I like it!
I like it! Going in the direction of Rolls Royce. I remember hating the new 4 series grill when it first showed, and hating the 8 GC as well! Now I like them all. Everything changes. Always.
