F01 N55 2013 740I Oil pan gasket
In the process of acquiring a 740I with the n55. Had it inspected today and for a car that has 92k miles it came back with all the oil leaks I was expecting. A possible VCG, with a positive OPG and OFHG leak. It also needs the driveshaft rubber replaced. I feel comfortable doing everything but the oil pan since it would require supporting the engine to drop the subframe. I would need to add to my toolbox the engine support bar, and an angle torque wrench at the end of the day around 400 to 500 in tools. Shops around here require me to pay a "diagnostic" even though technically I already did at a shop where the vehicle is located and it would be obvious to see the leak from the oil pan. My question is does anybody know a better way of doing it or how much could that job run me at a decent shop...

For $84 for the engine support bar, and then dropping the subframe, it seems like a no-brainer...but you could still opt have someone else to do it....
https://www.harborfreight.com/1000-l...bar-96524.html ...since you are already under your car to address your steering rack bolts.... |

I know, I only hope the steering rack is not damaged. I guess that’s my reminder of what happens when someone else works on your car. As of right now I am currently prepping the engine bay to do the VC gasket, OFH gasket and belt with pulleys at the same time. I am really trying on bringing this baby back to life.

If you need more TIS info, happy to post. Once you get your car mechanically sound...maybe we can look at factory MODS to do... |
