If you want better traction, handling, stopping ability etc in the snow...then buy FOUR dedicated winter tires.
The tread pattern, sipes, and rubber compound will work with your AWD system to give you the best winter driving experience whether its snow, ice, cold & dry, cold & wet, etc. You can go to youtube and watch the hundreds of comparison videos of summer vs all season vs winter tires. A RWD or FWD vehicle mounted with 4 dedicated winter tires usually performs better than an AWD vehicle mounted with all season tires.
