745e Check Engine Light 2 times in 2 days!
A few days ago my 745e got a check engine light but I did not see anything in the infotainment control messages so I didn’t think it was anything serious and just cleared the code using my JB4. I did not get a chance to notate the code before clearing. The next day, a check engine light came on again and I used my JB4 to read the code and it came up as “21B010”. I’m not sure if this is the same code as the first check engine light the day before. On www.bmwault.codes this is what the code description says:”Information fuel tank shutoff valve, function: Clamped open (reported by TFE).” The CEL hasn’t come back on anymore after clearing the codes again. Does anybody know if this is anything I should be worried about? I heard B58s were pretty reliable engines but this used car I bought only 4 months ago throwing up a CEL makes me pretty worried.

OBD II & your BMWs check control system are two different systems.
The CEL (check engine light) is a 1996 federal OBD II mandate for a standard system of codes and retrieval of those codes across all car manufacturers in regard to the car’s emissions (air pollution). Check your owners manual to see what it says about the Check Engine Light: So anytime you get the CEL…you need to pull the codes to see which of the many sensors associated with your car’s emissions set the fault code. See the info below especially the 3rd & 4th bullets:
