It turns out, he got divorce with his wife (wife left him)two years ago and started the P90X workout, lost 30 pounds and he was featured in the informercial. I always thought those workout videos are a rip-off, but I guess it is not always true. He is in a really good sharp; capable of doing like 36 pull-ups etc.

He even tattooed the P90X logo on his chest. My reaction was "So...do they take visa?"
i have to get started with this

I'm kind of biased towards CrossFit. I know a guy who is at least a level II instructor and honestly, I'll take his word on almost anything, even if he has no good reason to.

P90x is solid though.

Just saw this thread and thought I would comment. I was a United States Marine for 13 years. I have always been in outstanding shape (not to brag). However, p90x does take you to another level. You get what you put into it though. You can sandbag it and get nowhere or you can push yourself. At the age of 30 I was probably in the best shape of my life. Crossfit is ok from what I have seen. But, I have also seen many people get injured doing it.

When did you get out of the Marines? From what I understand USMC was the first (of the services at least) to really incorporate Xfit.

If you eat properly throughout the week, you get one meal or one day depending on what your diet is to eat whatever you want. P90X is great for getting cut and looking good as well as endurance, but you lose strength which is not a good thing in the military. Of course the typical user on this website is probably a couch potato so anything is better than nothing I suppose.

A lot of people skip yoga, but I think it is actually a pretty important routine. It did wonders for me the first couple of weeks to remove all the soreness from my legs and you get a great stretch in your muscles to prevent injury down the road. It also works out your core, which is important for p90x and beyond. The biggest problem with yoga is the length of the routine. To try and cut it down, I skipped through the breathing/mediation in the beginning and end and also skipped most of the balance postures. So basically did the first 45 minutes, some of the first couple balance postures, then skipped to yoga belly section. In all I was able to cut the workout to an hour.

Agreed, I used to be like "Yoga wtf..." until I actually did it.

Anyway, I'll be starting once I get the pull up bar. I'll probably be going into work crippled the next day

Someone mentioned strength and how important it is in the military. Well, I have found there is a fine fine fine line there. Currently I am between 165 and 168 lbs and 5 foot 8. I have been as heavy as 189lbs of solid muscle..But guess what, I am stronger now then at 189. Sure I could bench a lot and curl a lot. But that does not translate into actual fitness and work being done. I had no stamina compared to what I have now, I couldnt do as many pushups, pullups, sit ups etc etc. While I was doing P90x I hadnt run in 2 months. One day I decided to run, 12 miles later I wasnt even close to winded. Just REALLY REALLY bored of running. At 189 I probably could only run 5 or 6 miles because I had to carry so much muscle. Its a big toll on your lunges to provide all that muscle with oxygen. Just my thoughts on the strength point.

i agree, but the bodybuilder look is a different goal.. fortunately i dont lose too much strength when i drop, but i always make sure pull ups and push ups are part of my training... @ 198 this yr i was still getting ten wide grip pull ups out (full range though, many people cheat on these) for 4 sets...

as long as we are working out and dont like like crap this is all
