Moving away a bit from the headlights, is anybody surprised that BMW and other manufacturers still count on their own Software Engineering organizations to build the infotainment system? I remember 5 years ago folks would say car manufacturers would just move to fully integrated Apple CarPlay because it doesn't make sense from a cost perspective for them to maintain an army of SWEs! I think the software looks and flows great, from what I see in the videos but it's not on par with iOS or Android native integrations!
Another feature I realized: The wireless charging now has its own fan cooling unit to keep the device from overheating. This has been a huge issue with the wireless charging pads in the current gen!

I had the opportunity to see the 7 in person last week. It looks good and has some serious presence in person. I always laugh at some of these comments from you people. Literally commenting on a vehicle that a. you cant afford and b. not in the market for and all while you're driving your old rat e36's/e46's or used beat to piss bone stock f80s lol.

But my bigger issue with the brand from the time period you are referencing to today is driving feel. Even if the new 7 looked good, my guess is it drives nothing like the E38. The E38 was a big car, but it felt like a sports sedan. I am all but certain that this one feels like a boat. Times change. I can accept that. But it also means that when I replace the X1 in the next few years, it will likely be with a Porsche, not another BMW. |

Have you ever seen an iPad? This looking nothing like it. The old Mercedes generations had an iPad looking screen, not BMW. This new design is stunning, progressive and quite exquisite. People with this attitude are the same people that probably haven't updated their homes interior in over 20 years, same goes with their wardrobe. |

This is an automotive enthusiast community where people can and should comment on whatever they want. Oh and FYI, E36's and e46's are highly desirable cars. You can park this 7 series next to a 0 mile E36 or E46 and 9/10 people will choose the latter car, and both would sell for more money than this monstrosity. Either you're trolling or you are in no way shape or form a BMW/automotive enthusiast…automotive fascist maybe. |

I like BMW offering the works, in both design and technical aspects. Some models are really very conservative like the non-M 3, 5, X3, X5...not sure why you would say these models are far removed from 20-25 years ago. Some are bolder, like the vertical kidneyed models. You have a choice. If you are bold, BMW has it. If you are conservative, BMW has it. From a business standpoint, conservative 7s do NOT sell. It is today hammered mercilessly by the S-Class. The last 7 to beat the S-Class in any sales year was the E65. |

I really don't know if some of this commentators are BMW fans or outsider.
I'll say the new BMW 7 series class is a bold step in the flagship design, it's not only technologically innovative, but it creates an awesome, magnify and matured looking style full of elegance compared to any of it's pairs. The exterior is a head turner, looks solid and masculine and the advance interior a wow a beautiful place to be, fresh and breathtaking, not some cartoon kind of interior, it's height futuristic and I believe that both BMW and a non BMW owners will be overwhelmed by it in person. Every thing changes, your cell phones, tv, even Mercedes used to make round lights with smaller grills, so are other cars, so why not BMW not looking like the old style that have aged? but go into the future. I love it and as an owner of 5 generations of the 7 series and other BMW models, I'm going to buy this car so will my friends. #bmwgroup #7-series |

iDrive nav is still poor, maps not updated and minor roads have a speed limit set in the database that is inappropriate - all of these longer for many years with no change. No amount of iDrive 8 augmented reality with arrows for turns will make the basic product worth using in place of CarPlay for me. |

Everyone is entitled to an opinion here whether you are considering buying this car or not For me I think bmw have taken a wrong turn but at the end of the day if they sell and the shareholders are happy, that is what will dictate whether this was the right turn or not |
