I was worth a bacon breakfast burrito, but I ate it so I had to click in debt.
Now if my wife can ever figure out how to kill me and make it look like an accident, I'd be worth millions. Also, $20 says OP lives in his parents basement. Who wants this action to help me get into the $0-500k category? |

I am not sure why people here get so weirded out about polls like this. (especially anon ones)
Visit any forum dedicated to finances, financial freedom, and frugality and you will see that people share every aspect of their financial lives without hesitation. Yes, the clientele and purpose of those forums is much different than an OT section of a car forum, but these types of discussions are still valid in the grander scheme of things. Though the question is poorly written to facilitate discussion, often times members will end up guiding these discussions to have to save more or achieve more. OP - go to one of those boards discussing finances or try using questions that will allow people to be more upfront and honest that involve percentages or ratios. For example, "What percentage of your income do you put away for retirement?" "What percentage of your household income do you have in savings/retirement?" "What is the ratio of your car loans to your mortgage?" "Are you debt adverse or do you like to leverage money and assets?" These are a bit harder to calculate but then will give you an idea of financial ideals of others. I remember reading a book where this woman made low $100k per year, however, she had credit card debt in the $20-30k range. Yes, she may look like she has it all together from the outside, but in reality she was returning clothing so she wouldn't have to pay minimums because AMEX at the time saw that returning items counted as a "purchase". Plus on forums, I have found that many people are cautious/insecure/oversecure/... of their "worth" because of backlash from others. Many people may look down upon people who may have had a helping hand in establishing their financial position. (helping hand is very subjective to different members) From the many boards I am a member of I have seen people who are basically retired because they have wealthy parents who fund everything including purchasing 6 figure cars and 7 figure houses to people who literally came from nothing. To answer your question - I am worth more dead than I am alive. Unless you count sentimental things like how I make people feel. Then I might be worth almost the same dead or alive. |

I see all of these models posting photos from all over the world traveling with their LV gear, etc... and then you see them in their bathtub which looks like it's from a secondary bathtub made to bathe children. |
