Update, I finally installed the DME stage 2 tune a week ago. I have not installed the cat-less down pipes yet. The car is faster (seat of the pants) but I am sure installing the down pipes will make a bigger difference per DME. There is no difference in gas mileage with the DME stage 2 tune from stock, at least with normal driving. I am still getting 21.7 MPG around town. I am also going to replace the original Bosch plugs with one heat range colder plugs. Hope to get this done in the next couple of weeks.

Ok guys I got a appointment to install the down pipes quicker than I expected at Stein Automotive next Tuesday. I am also going to have them install new NGK plugs that are two heat ranges colder and gap the plugs to .022. I bought the plugs myself online as every installer I got a quote from wanted a ridiculous price for them. The BMW dealer here wanted $45.20 each for these iridium plugs and I got them from Burger for $12.00 each.
Wish we had a 4 wheel dyno nearby to do some testing but I will use the drag strip as a alternative this spring. Update: the install date got pushed out another week. Last edited by jstewart; 03-11-2021 at 09:13 AM.. |

Yes it was finally finished today. What held it up was new intake filters (OEM) which were out of stock. Upon driving the car for the first time since installing the cat delete downpipes it felt a little flat at high RPM's. After doing multiple roll on full throttle pulls the car seemed to be adapting to the changes and got stronger and stronger. I noticed the same thing after first installing the stage 1 tune in the car. It was immediately stronger than stock but got progressively faster after driving 50 or so miles. The difference between stock and the stage 1 tune is greater (at least so far) than the stage 2 tune with the cat less down pipes and the stage 1 tune. This makes sense since the listed HP difference isn't as great. The car is definitely stronger.
I have not put 50 miles on the car yet so it may continue to get stronger as the stage 2 tune continues to adapt. What I do like so far is that the car feels just as refined as it did stock. I can not detect any more exhaust noise than when it was stock. There is definitely more intake sound when pushing it though. There was not any gas mileage penalty with the stage 1 tune. It will take a few weeks and maybe 500 miles to determine if the stage 2 tune with the cat less down pipes affect fuel economy. My guess is that they will not driving normally. I will get back in a couple of weeks with a answer about both fuel mileage and any further performance difference. |

What kind of power did it put down, stock, 1 then 2? It sounds like you're happy with it! Question regarding the downpipe: are you getting any additional exhaust fumes in the cabin?

There is definitely a difference in power stage 2 & downpipes but not sure how much of that is the stage 2 and how much is the downpipes. Yes I am happy with it. No exhaust fumes inside car |

Sorry - missed this earlier. Interested in seeing the timeslips!
Glad to hear. I forgot to ask earlier - what downpipes did you go with? |

VRSF downpipes. They were perfect fit and very well made. Only problem I had with them was I ordered gaskets with them which were missing from the shipment. It was more trouble to prove they were missing to VSRF than to just buy replacement gaskets. |

So far I am still getting 21.7 MPG in town with some expressway driving. This is the same MPG I got with both the stock tune and the stage 1 tune. Around town I drive within the speed limit so this makes sense. This is amazing MPG for a car that weighs over 4700 pounds and has this much HP. For comparison my 2017 Honda V6 Accord gets less than 1 more MPG around town driven the same way.

Looks like there is no gas mileage penalty with the DME stage tune and VSRF cat
less downpipes. With over 2,200 around town miles after the ECU tune and downpipes the average mileage is 21.8 MPG. This with sensible use of the throttle in a urban environment. Occasional full throttle usage was also included where possible. I made a 200 mile trip today on the interstate and the car returned 28.9 MPG at mostly 75 MPH which was running with traffic. The mods did not affect the sophisticated feel of the car and are all a plus as far as I am concerned. I had the car in for a warranty repair and normal service and nothing triggered any questions. |

Quick update on my journey here.
I have installed the Stage 1 tune from Bootmod3 and love the performance so far. I just received the cat-less downpipes from VRSF and unfortunately will be returning them and have Project Gamma downpipes on the way right now. VRSF pipes do not come with mounting tabs and the company offers no explanation for it besides it being cost efficient to manufacture without them. When asked for technical details and long term reliability they again throw a pitch sales at you. I am failing to understand how much more the brackets would cost to be manufactured and how it would be a deal breaker for the customer... PG cost is almost $400 more(ceramic coated) than VRSF but IMO peace of mind is worth it when it comes to these mods. Excited to get PG downpipes on and flash the 750 to Stage 2! |

Where are you seeing the performance increase? Any numbers? Or is it just feel? |

I suggest you give Bootmod3 a try. It's a great community and millions of users. Downpipes have landed by the way. In love with this craftsmanship Also the correct tabs show here vs VRSF does not feel the need to include these on their product |

Also, isn't DME a bench tune - where you have the send them your actual DME? |

On some cars they do need you to send the DME in but on the G11/12 they can remote tune them.
