Why people freak out when RedBull is "not dominant" like last year in the past two weeks???
Its not like they suddenly drop slower than HRT suddenly (even though they touch each other last weekend), they are still very competitive and race pace is matching the top teams.

I'm glad redbull isn't dominant this year because the Shumacher years of 2000-2004 were SUPER BORING. Lead lap one and finish first (yawn). I love unpredictability. It's still a long season and alot can happen.

Actually last year wasn't that "boring" compare to early 2000's, there's a lot more action from front to back. And tight races due to high tire degradation. (e.g. last 10 laps in the Spanish GP, Hamilton hunting down Vettel, but unable to pass him, that was some nervous moment.) I think the points ranking didn't really reflect how tight the races was.

This year started off exciting in both track action and championship points. Awesome!!!

To your point I agree. Between DRS, Kers, and human error there tons of position changes.

I have always wondered with F1 getting a lot of new fans.

Are your loyalties as fans to a certain race team or driver? Do you guys follow a driver from team to team or follow a team with any driver lineup?

I find myself a team guy, not necessarily big on one driver. Although I was quite a fan of Mika Hakkinen. I have watched the sport for a number of years. I guess you just get use to drivers coming and going.

I have a lot of friends/family I have recently turned onto F1. They all seem to be Red Bull and Vettel fans.

I'm more McLaren people, love to watch Hamilton race, and impressed how well Button drive (except the brain-fart moment last weekend). So this season so far I was excited how nice the McLaren car looked and performed.

I Extremely admire how Red Bull has evolved since 2009. Vettel is definitely a top driver of the decade, and will eventually break Schumi's record if given a competitive car in coming years.

Not a Ferrari fan but wish them being competitive and rich history.
Deeply sad what Williams had become in the past few years, and great to see them on top of mid-field and wish them challenging top podium very soon.

First I watch F1 was when '93 or '94 when Williams and Benetton was dominant and witnessed Senna's death live on TV, but I was too young to feel the impact yet. Deeply remember how Schumi rammed Hill in Adelaide and took the championship. Since then I don't really like him very much; even though he's now a 7 time world champ, but deep down I remember how he took the first one in the last race.

Btw, a subscriber of F1 Racing magazine...

Vettel just seems like such an "awww shucks" type of guy so it's hard to really dislike him. The reason I like F1 is that I can be a fan of racing WITHOUT having to claim allegiance to one team or one driver. I liked Kubica a lot because I thought he was a great driver with a nice personality. Vettel I think has both as well and I am just really happy for him. He's achieved a great deal in his life. I also quite like Button. That's the beauty of F1! I enjoy watching the sport as a whole and the drama associated with it.

Actually I have more and more appreciation and admiration of Fernando, I was thinking in the past two races, DAMN!!! This guy can drive!!! his two time world champ is legit!!! Wonder if its just because Massa made the contrast, or even makes alonso looks even more awesome!

Don't forget Button's gf...

So, when I started watching and following F1, I immediately gravitated towards a team and a racer based on my initial thoughts and feelings. This was McLaren (with their MBZ engine--I had a MBZ car) and Lewis Hamilton (a young driver). From then on, it's been my team.

I could have chosen Ferrari, but, that would have been too easy and cliche IMO. Williams, Renault, or BMW-Sauber? They didn't appeal to me. RBR was a new team with a good management team--and once they had a good car and Seb started winning, they dominated. No matter--I supported McLaren.

If and when Lewis leaves the team, I will wish him well. But, I will welcome his replacement.

I've always supported the Finnish drivers. Big fan of Hakkinen, and also Raikkonen. So from that I've always wished McLaren well as a result. Too bad they couldn't keep the car reliable enough for Kimi while he was there.
