I'll say that Leatherique is the best I've used and recently used Chemical Guys one step cleaner/conditioner and am impressed.

Thanks, I'll put them on my list, maybe next time I'm over there.

Hello

2020 X5 with leather that (the previous owner) may have been left in the sun quite a bit.... feels hard and slippery....

I understand that it's coated.... Is there any way it can be softened and made less 'slippery'?

thanks

I did a A/B comparison between Chemical Guys leather cleaner and Pledge - Pledge cleaned a bit quicker and that is now my preferred choice. Nothing against CG and I will use that as well until I use up the bottle. Merino Black in G05 using horse hair brush and microfiber to dry.

Should I assume leather conditioning is a waste if the leather is sealed?

I did that as well, for a while. Really could not tell if that product did anything, other making me feel good about doing "something".

Certainly - any leather cleaner will easily remove any "coatings" along with dirt, grime, sweat, and other fluids in your leather.

Not if you clean the leather first, as you should.
Then condition / rejuvenate it with oils. Then seal on top, or not.

The key is not the process or the brand of chemicals used, but the frequency of leather care.
If you only clean/rejuvenate your leather seats once a decade, they will crack and discolor. If you maintain them annually, they will last forever.

HTH,

Over the years I’ve tried them all, but keep coming back to Meguiar’s Rich Leather.

Easy to apply, not much rubbing out but leaves a nice sheen that doesn’t rub off. I’m not a “wet-look shine” lover here but want it protected and looking good.

A few of my cars have leather dashboards and none of them have shrunk or split, and no dash glare like some others have left.

Is this 100% true? Im restoring an old mini (1999, technically built by BMW) and want the seats to look like new... soapy water is my only option?

Please don't listen to this.

Please define "them all". There are a lot of bad products out there, many decent ones and a few great ones. I think this product you are using I would put toward the high end of decent.

If it’s listed as a recommendation here in the detailing forum in the past 19 years, I’ve most likely tried it. But now instead of wasting more money on products, I’ve learned to just stick with what I like, is easy and not greasy for leather.
