Wow! That’s unsettling news.

Would love to see the changes in the updated 2027 model. I have the 2023 760i has 10.8K miles Black with white interior loaded...this is my 10th 7 series since 2002. Looking forward to my 11th...Hoping the cost does noy sky rochet due to the tariffs....BMW does have factories here in the USA as well....

Holding out for the 2027, I just hope they fix the m-sport face. I get that it's bold, and selling well, and a lot of compromises made for weight/airflow/lowering CD, but I think they could maintain the aggressiveness while making it a bit...prettier. Or, if they let me option a 760i without m-sport fascia, that would be enough for me to put in an order.

For the first time, in a very long time, the 7 series is outselling the S class so apparently there are a lot of people that are not bothered by the face.

That being said, I am pretty sure they are addressing the front of the car for the LCI, but who knows what that ends up being.

The S-Class is too similar to Mercedes' cheaper models, and I think that's the main reason why it sells less well. The 7 Series is completely different from BMW's cheaper models, and customers like that. More similar to Rolls Royce

Well, next year is also the LCI for the S class and it is rumored that they are going to the new E-class screen set up that goes all the way across the front of the dash.

I think that the front of the M package version could be improved by the upcoming Alpina package. But apparently, with the M package, the kidneys are supposed to be horizontal rather than vertical, so I'm not sure if it will look as elegant as in a Rolls Royce. Because such horizontal kidneys are found in the M3/M4. But perhaps the Alpina package will feature vertical chrome kidneys.

I sure hope it doesn't start to look like an M4 front. I just went through the comparison of the new M4 Competition and the Mercedes CLE 53 AMG and bought the Mercedes. I thought it was a much better looking car and more refined.

So, more plastic and less leather on the dashboard, which is cheaper and easier for the manufacturer. In the 7 series, they are also going to add an additional screen at the front for the passenger.

That's why I personally prefer the Elegance versions of the 7 Series, without any M elements, because the 7 Series is far from being a true M car. I've always liked the 7 Series with chrome. I think the manufacturer will retain the option of choosing between horizontal and vertical kidneys, but this will depend on whether you choose the M package or the Elegance/Alpina version.

I believe that BMW will move away from horizontal kidneys in the near future, because the M5 G90 LCI kidneys will be vertical.

I'm fully with you. For some reason BMW North America decided to only let ICE buyers opt for the m-sport look for the US market. The only way we currently get the "Elegance" look is if we opt for the non-M70 i7. It's almost like they intentionally made the ICE cars uglier to drive more EV sales (which I'm sure was a priority for Munich).

But all things considered, it's easier to swap a front face on a 760i than to transplant the V8

Unfortunately, in Europe we cannot order a V8 in the 7 Series. Unless you buy the 7 Series Protection. Then you will have a V8 under the hood

Flaw in that argument is almost all the i7s I see have the M Sport package. I think more people like the M sport look than you think.

Personally I can't even stand the non-MSport look on this car. Frankly I can barely digest it with M-Sport and it's only acceptable to me in dark colors. The elegant/luxury or non-M-Sport design is a big no go for me. I actually think I even hate that look especially in light colors.

Fascinating - I've felt that way (prefer the M-sport variation) about all the modern 5s (post-E34, yes even E39s), but have been ambivalent or preferred the standard/luxury 7s. It's worth noting this will be my first purchase of a new 7, so in a sense "my vote didn't count" in the past.

I think all these preferences say more about me than the car. I'm hoping that technology advancements mean that BMWNA can offer us more choices (though I understand that what is driving the option restrictions are less manufacturing feasibility and more limiting the number of leased "individual orders" that might have materially submarket residuals).

I’d also add that now that I’ve spent more time around the car, and kinda it is (slowly) growing on me, looking at some of the photos for the luxury trim options here on this website in darker colors, they actually look okay and have some RR vibe. It’s just the lighter colors with the black kidney grill and black trim panels that look slightly odd to me in M-Sport. If it’s a ligher color, I’d rather go luxury trim.

Very much in agreement that the lighter colors with the blacked out grill (m-sport pro?) look odd with m-sport. I think they're...better...with chrome, but honestly just not great. Come to think of it, I'm not sure I've ever seen a G70 in person without m-sport, as even the i7s on the dealer lots I've seen all had the m-sport box ticked.

Out of curiosity (since your bio says US/Germany), did you order off the US menu, or have a wider range of options from the homeland?

If I was going to go light color I would have gone luxury trim, dark color M Sport.

It looks like we will have to wait until July 2027 for the Alpina models.
