Didn’t think it would be considered a “troll post.” Vehicle has been parked since the incident and is scheduled to be cleaned today. Thanks all.
I'm with you. Never looked like a troll post to me. I've also seen this happen with dealer service. One of my kid's car was dripping oil all over after a dealer oil change. I looked underneath and there was oil freakin everywhere. There was so much oil above the filter, on the underside of the engine block, that I was sure there was a major leak somewhere.

Nope. It was just a total catastrophe of an oil change. The dealer cleaned it up and thousands of miles later there are no drips and no signs of a leak.

I also had a dealer puncture the new filter, presumably during a hamfisted install with a wrench. It leaked oil all over my driveway.

I also had a dealer not actually do the oil change I was charged for when I brought the car in for a recall service. I suspect the mechanic just didn't have time to fit it in. When I complained to the service manager, he had the tech produce the dirty filter he'd said he'd removed. LOL, it was an aftermarket filter. I'd done the last oil change myself and used OEM that I had bought at that very same dealer.

I've had a dealer disconnect the airbox and not reconnect it properly after air filter change during service.

On and on and on and on. There are thousands of horror stories -- true stories of dealers doing crap like this.

So the experience you describe is hardly surprising. Not one bit surprising. And it makes perfect sense to me that you would post looking for advice on cleanup.

If your post is not literally true, it might as well be.

Other than some vague supposition, is there anything concrete that leads you to this conclusion? I know we're in the age of nothing-is-real-unless-I-see-it, but I don't really see anything that makes me particularly doubtful in this case.

Goodness. Relentless this one. Not sure why this would be something I would lie about. I guess this situation might get me some high internet points! And not sure why you feel I need to prove this scenario to anyone. Believe it? Don’t? Can’t say that I care either way. It’s very much a real situation that happened to me this weekend. Thought I’d hop on here to see if anyone else has experienced similar and solicit some advice of what’s needed.

Despite the many people I know personally and have continued “real life” friendships with from this forum grabbing dinners and going for drives, it’s this strange entitlement the keeps me out of here. Thought I’d dip my toe in for some community. Oops.

Did you read the OP's original post. Does ANYONE run water through an engine???? OTOH, I can't believe all the advice on cleaning it up when the real issues is ruining an engine. He said it's the first oil change in a new car.

Anyway, a picture or two could clear him in my mind. Also, it'd be nice to know the year, make and model of the "new" car.

Looking at his old posts, he doesn't seem as stupid as the top of this thread suggests. Maybe he was hacked by a 5.0 Mustang guy. (Not a put down, since I raced 'stangs for many years. Anyone that's read the whole thread knows what I'm referring to).

I see him claiming indignance.

I'll leave you be. Sorry about what happened to your new car.

Wait, are we talking about the Mustang guy or the OP? You're weirdly mixing the two here, and I'm not sure why. Is your supposition that they're the same person? Gotta say, I'm pretty confused by what you're trying to get at here.

So far as I'm aware, the OP is talking about an oil change in a BMW, and the Mustang guy you're referencing is a post from 2007 in a Mustang forum. Other than laughing at the old post that was supposedly a troll, I'm not sure what relevance it has to the OP.

Could you maybe clarify what exactly your point is?

I didn't take this as a troll post. Spazzyfry has been around for a while and has never had reason to be bestowed troll status.

As far as his 'garage', plenty of people don't show anything or keep it up to date. I'd have thought nothing of it. After all these years of being on BP, mine still shows nothing.

What a sh#tshow of an oil change! There are very, very few places I would trust with even an oil change. Fortunately, I am able to do 99% of my maintenance myself. Hopefully you get this sorted properly.

As for the concrete:

I've used isopropyl alcohol to clean concrete oil spots. Pour it on the stains then absorb it with rags. Repeat several times then rinse with hot water and a strong water soluable degreaser like simple green or super clean. I've never tried laundry detergent but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work... And even a strong dish soap like Dawn would probably be very effective.

Works well, but I've done it on concrete that is not even close to being new, and I think if it's brand new bright concrete it will be very difficult to get all the staining out.

I've also used gasoline and other solvents in the past but alcohol seems to work best because it's water soluble and makes rinsing with water much easier.

PS. Just thought I would add: be very careful if you're using a product like super clean in your engine bay. It is quite caustic and will cause any bare aluminum to slightly oxidize and turn whitish.

LOL. Over the 20 years I've been on E90 Post I've read way more posts from spazzyfry123 than of yours. In fact, I don't remember reading any of your posts ever.

OP, I hope you get the oil mess cleaned up to your satisfaction. Amazing how a professional shop can royally eff up something as simple as an oil change.

I'm not even sure what kind of troll this would be. Is anyone here supposed to particularly upset that someone's oil change got f'd up? Is it supposed to launch some huge argument about whether or not it's a good thing to splatter oil on the underside of the car?

I just don't see what the trolling would constitute on this one. I think in our (screwed up) day and age, where idiots constantly shout "fake news!11!", there are a certain number of people who won't believe anything they didn't see with their own eyes. And maybe not even then.

Honestly, calling this a troll post is being more of a troll than the OP ever could've managed. I have a lot more faith in the idea that someone wants to throw bombs into a conversation, and accusing someone of being a troll is the easiest way to do.
