My wife said this until I put it into terms that she could understand.

* I don't know that much about "high end" (snob) purses, shoes and accessories. I couldn't tell a Manolo Blahnik from a Payless Shoe Source. (well, not quite, but close)
* My wife can typically tell the counterfeits as she walks past and will often smirk.
* As I don't care even if it's a real item, it amuses me that she points it out.
* She threw out the "who cares" when my son was laughing at the fake AMGs and Ms out on the road.
* I asked her, "What do you think when you see a fake Louis Vuitton being passed off like it's real" and I saw the recognition.

Only the "purist" knows the difference, but only the "purist" even cares in the first place. That is the person that the fake badge is being placed for. My wife doesn't know an AMG from a Lexus. She isn't impressed and doesn't even notice the badge. The only people who do notice are the ones who realize that it's fake.

Aren't we allowed to have a little fun at the poser's expense? I don't laugh at someone for driving a run down, worn out Civic. I laugh at the guy who puts the "F" badge on the side and wants to make everything think he's driving something else.

The issue is someone trying to pretend to have something that they don't have. Sure, it's their car, but it's also their insecurity that is making them do it. They may have a right to badge their vehicle however they want, but I reserve the right to find it amusing and somewhat sad.

What are you talking about? That is a SL65 Black series. It has the wide body flared fenders and aggressive aero that only the Black Series has. No regular SL65 has widebody let alone huge flared fenders like that.

My mom is in 60s, and she even takes photos of AMG posers. My parents had real weird experience with a poser before.

My parent's first poser experience was is early90s. My dad use to own a shop. A guy with MB came in for a simple repair, and my dad went to the parts store to buy a 430? SEL parts. When he came back, it did not fit.

He called the owner of the vehicle and he regretfully tells the truth that it is actually 320? sel.

The M badged 7 series was an owner add on not a BMW add on. As for the 318 ti, I know of at least one M conversion.

Given the slather of M badges on the M235i, I suspect the new 440i will likely get the M badge treatment as well.
