Luxury electric vehicle manufacturer losing $227,000 per car with stunning $630 million net loss last quarter
Luxury electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid Motors has posted massive losses while reportedly losing over $225,000 per sold car.
According to the company's latest quarterly earnings release, the market has not responded well to its products.
In total, the company's "Free Cash Flow" was a whopping negative $706.1 million. These numbers are actually an upgrade from 2022, when the company lost $530 million and was in the hole for $860 million.
When it went public, Lucid Motors had a market value of $91 billion in November 2021 despite only having produced 125 cars. Stock prices at the time peaked around $53 per share but have since plummeted to approximately $4 per share at the time of this publication.

well I have to say ... I though i was not going to get EV vehicle until it was the only option. return my wife x3m40 lease. and thought i was going to get in to x5x50e, and for the fun of it also test drove IX.

went home with an IX50. was quicker , higher MSRP and most important. way lower lease payement. that was the key point. with all the discount. I under why all EV are losing money on every sales. major discounts.

Here is your hint for the day, Don't buy the EV and save some environmental damage and buy a nicer ICE vehicle which you will keep longer and thus do less damage to the environment.

Or just let the free market make its choice... like it always had, a car is not a necessity to life.

I'll just say it, government is way too at the whims of a very select few so the same select few can line its pockets with even more wealth.

EV has its place, and people can freely enjoy their's if they desire.
But don't legislate and force through limitations and mandates to try and drive the direction of the free market at the cost of us tax payers, especially those who don't happen to make 500k a year

There is about a gazillion things world governments can spend to better the livelihood of its citizen, maybe even just spend it on planting trees, improving the roads, improving public transit, improving public education and public health, hell clean drinking water and maybe more pro-active stance on recycling and garbage disposal are all part of a big solution

And I am the minority here that support the green agenda, there are far better things to actually slow if not stop climate change if that was indeed its main goal.

While you might think the free market has some effect on EV manufacturing but the facts are there are market forces that will force these companies to produce EV's even when they are sitting on docks.

The world is closer to China than anyone wants to admit.
