At least they left the “330i” part? 😅

Another day, another poorly executed X5__///M

^^Odd car.

Everything is so well executed, but then the badging just shits on it all.

I’d drive the hell out of it after a quick debadging!

If it’s not a real 1M, they spent a LOT of money making it look like one.

Yeah, it’s glaring embarrassing IMO. Not sure what’s with the oversized “Turbo” badge either when we live in an era where forced induction is common.🤷

Beg to disagree. You’re throwing the baby out with the bath water. While the M30 is an amazing piece of engineering, later generations held the flag high -> E46 M3 CSL, E87 1M, E92 M3 GTS, Alpina E30 333i, E60 M5, E36 M3 GT, E39 M5, F82 M4 GTS, F90 M5 CS. The E28 M5 too was a widow-maker back in the day.

It’s not about price. It’s about the American market’s illusion that bigger is better & safer. Even if it handles and floats like a barge.

Saw this one yesterday at Best Buy. The ebay M logo already lost its M colors. My wife's like "why are you taking a picture of that car?" I said it's for the Bimmerpost Fake Badges thread. The funniest part is she just asked me if I posted it yet!

To be fair, for any real driving enthusiast, there is more M in a 535 chassis than your X6.

Fairness in what context? Fair that the 535i slaps on a fake M-badge because it's chassis has enough "M" in it? So I should maybe remove the M badge from my car?

Sure. But that is an odd comment to make given the point of this thread - which is that that 535i didn't come out of the factory with the M badge. I didn't realise the driving dynamics were relevant (for this thread). Not to mention that the F chassis has an actual M5. Also noticed you conveniently refer to it as an "X6" and left out the "M", especially when you went out of your way to be so specific about your 540i being an xDrive and M-Sport trim - because adaptive suspension and sportier trim, sportier steering wheel, and nicer wheels and aero kit is what an enthusiast should have, right? Now that I think about it - are you that guy that I saw in the 5 series forum one time that stuck an M badge on his 540i to make it an “M540i” and got absolutely roasted? Call it what you will, but my "X6" came out of M Gmbh; that 535i did not. There are plenty of non-M and other vehicles, with driving dynamics which are "more M" than the X6M (including maybe your 540i xDrive M-Sport) which is basically a 2 tonne truck that handles like a boat. Again, not the point of this thread. I don't drive this car for the dynamics or the chassis. I just want a car within my affordability that can fit two set of golf clubs and weekend luggage and still go fast + V8 sounds + in a shape that I like. If I had the means right now, I would buy the G06 X6 M60i which would serve all my purposes but in a newer, more modern platform. Not an Mc car but still wouldn't stop me posting fake M-badges on this thread.

If we start going into specific components that make one model "more M" than another, or what is a "real M", then that is a different topic altogether, no? E.g., should a true M enthusiast drive an auto transmission? RWD vs AWD? ICE vs EV? Hybrid? No less than 8 cylinders? Etc.

???

What? Are you really suggesting that his real X6M is less of an M-car than a 535? M sport or otherwise?

The SUV chassis has inherent compromises that will always put it at a disadvantage. M tinkering can help, ofc, but when both chassis are tinkered with to a simliar degree, we all know what happens.

It is what it is. Maybe 535 bro is just an M fan. Nothing wrong with a 535.
