Watching Enigma now with Sheen and Neill.
CIA hire an E German defector (Sheen) to return to E Berlin and foil a plot by the Stasi to assassinate five Soviet dissidents.

Very overrated imo, and the science in the film (while not a film about the science) was both wrong and oversimplified. The history was also "adapted", especially Teller's role in all of it.

Nolan jumped the shark ages ago.

Given that it won so many awards just points to how low the bar is for post Covid movies in the woke hollywood era.
They're just poop... reminds me of the hoopla around Titanic. Feh.
So true, there are influential people in Hollywood that have no idea of what a good film should be and the film choices are then forced in rather than chosen from the heart.

I guess A Quiet Place was alright but I never really bought into the concept or how ppl were conducting themselves in that world. Anyway, if you like that, Arcadian should be ok, I liked it for the most part.

Maybe not, though. Didn't like Bullet Train.
Well, the reviews aren't bad, after all.

Might be worth a watch with the Minister of War & Finance once I get back from London and Paris.

My wife's been on a bit of a movie kick lately, and I've been completely disinterested, watch with half an eye, or get sucked in.

Here are three good ones (all very different genres) that we've both enjoyed. A couple of them I didn't think I'd be interested in, but I got surprised:

I, Tonya

Snowden

Dark Waters

All I can say.... Believe the Hype! 5/5 for me!

I gave me a nostalgia from watching the legendary Toho earlier films of the 70s.
And the soundtrack... OMG!!! Dolby True HD had my Theater literally shaking from my recently upgraded 14in sub.

The Minister of War and Finance and I watched "Anna" last night-- It was fun as long as you ignored and accepted the obvious plot holes and stylized "super anti-hero" violence. We both decided we enjoyed it.

But, it was directed by Luc Bession (e.g. La Femme Nikita") so you sort of saw that coming.

It was interesting that the (anti-) heroine has only acted in one other thing, is *actually* an international fashion model, and really *is* Russian.

Some pretty big names too-- Helen Mirren and Cilian Murphy for starters.

Meh.

Just saw it and a big meh. Got EXACTLY what I expected, it tried to be bigger, badder, supercharged etc but the entire thing felt stilted, manufactured, emotionless and ham fisted. The lead female literally narrating the storyline the entire movie to try and explain a series of incredibly "long bow" situations was terrible writing.

Great fights, outstanding CGI but meh.

This was pleasantly entertaining. It had that A Quiet Place vibe.
Cage is doing pretty damn good in his later years...

What we need is for someone to cut the Shogun series into a full-length movie.
