Maybe they didn't believe in Darwinism and wanted to test the theory?

Easily half…..!!!! Drugs - usually methamphetamine - and alcohol are often a factor in violent altercations.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that my never using meth or drinking beyond "I'm fun" status is why I've never been arrested. LOL

BTW, I have a very good golf buddy who is in his 70s. 6'5" and still fit as hell. I am not small and I would not want him mad. He told me once if I ever see him take a drink - run. Last time he had a drink was in his 20s. He woke up in a cell with police very angry with him. Seems he resisted arrest and hurt a few of them in the process. He decided he would probably die very young if he continued drinking.

If they're cutting meth with fentanyl, it must be cheap, yes? Doesn't make sense because we know it's a powerful drug.

They cut it with fentanyl to ensure the user is hooked after only one use.

I guess then that fentanyl is highly addictive.

Do cops actually take it personally if you pass them on the freeway doing 5-10 over the speed limit or on just a regular road?

I know you're generally allowed to speed 10 mph over the limit which is why I'm asking

Naw. Most of us don't care. Our intent is not to slow down the reasonable flow of traffic, that's why you'll often observe us exit the freeway only to get right back on.

None that I've ever passed seemed to have taken it personally enough to light me up so they could personally express that sentiment.

The odd times, they've been sitting on the side of the road and well tucked in so that I don't see them in time and wind up zipping past them at pretty close to the speed I was doing before I saw them, and even at 30 km/h above the speed limit none of them have moved which I've appreciated.

I think you generally have to be displaying really arrogant / careless behaviour unless they are low on their quota that day. Just based on my experience anyways - most interactions have been positive, even when I've received a ticket for my many sins.

That's what I figured. I always pass cops that are driving the speed limit doing a reasonable speed. Never had an issue.

I was stuck behind two guys driving side by side at exactly the speed limit for about 30kms once. Neither would speed up or slow down to clear the left lane for others. Finally on a long straight I figured out what was going on. Way up ahead, probably 1.5-2kms, was a cop driving along in the left lane. I got fed up with the rolling road block and started tailgating the one on the left until he finally got out of the way. I led a string of about twenty cars until I got close enough to see that it wasn't a cop but a Charger all done up as a promotional car from a Dodge dealership complete with rooftop lights and bash bar on the front. It was all lettered up in police car style but advertising the dealership. The jerk driving was on some sort of a rent-a-cop type power trip, obviously. The whole string of cars passed him on the right because he would not move over. I felt like contacting the dealership to complain about him but he was doing the speed limit, albeit in the wrong lane. There should be some kind of law about deliberately making a vehicle appear to be a cop car until you get close enough to actually be able to read the lettering. I know that guy pissed off a lot of other drivers that day.

Back in the "I can't drive 55" days, I was coming down the 5 and a CHP was in the right lane going 55. There was a miles-long string of cars behind him in both lanes with no one willing to pass. FINALLY, someone dared and eventually we all got around him. I swear he was doing that on purpose!

Then there was this time in Utah on the 15 where I went around a UHP car at 75. My wife freaked a little until I told her the speed limit was 75 and he was doing around 65-70.
