I don't really see that here in California. I don't need it for an infraction citation and if I issue a misdemeanor citation I include a statement of facts (…unless I've written a full criminal report). The statement of facts includes the justification for the stop as well as any supporting documentation.

Los Angeles County D.A. George Gascon now wants to get rid of the Major Crimes Bureau. His policies are so bad for the community and for law enforcement.

D.A. George Gascon ordered all 100 of his D.D.A.'s not to file on any major crimes (…hence why Los Angeles is so crime riddled). His directive mandated that every D.D.A. must dismiss already filed cases - in the interest of justice - without any individual determination. In other words, all were ordered to be dismissed without looking at any of the facts surrounding the cases.

Justin Flores, the killer of the two El Monte police officers, is a prior gang member with serious felony criminal history; his gang is tattooed on his face. He was arrested with firearms and methamphetamine two years ago. Under Jackie Lacey's administration, Flores was charged for crimes with an enhancement for having a prior strike. He was supposed to serve 32 months in prison, but the prosecutor was ordered by Gascon to dismiss all strikes. This allowed Flores to receive probation and only have to serve 20 days of jail time. Flores didn't serve the 20 days; per Gascon it was declared he be given time served. Flores eventually went on to murder the two El Monte police officers.

Interestingly enough, the D.D.A.'s union sued Gascon. He lost and the court ruled Gascon's policies were illegal. He can't just unilaterally dismiss strikes. This hasn't stopped him.

I wish these guys and the judges who institute a revolving door policy would have to deal with these animals on a personal level. Nothing like a little experiential learning to change their worldview.

Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but chances are some of these players are on the take and protected.

On a lighter note: Sedan, any experience with Arigato Sushi in Santa Barbara? My niece turned 21 Wednesday, and we are all cruising up the coast tonight for a 5:30 reservation.

Not looking forward to the drive all that much . . .

I've never been to Arigato Sushi unfortunately. The lady and I are cruising up to Santa Barbara tomorrow, so maybe I'll stop by and try the food. Road trip #2 in the 992.

IF I don't drink too much tonight, I'll give you a review.

When *I* get to pick in Santa Barbara, it's always The Palace Grill. Love me some redfish, and the whole quart martinis aint bad either

It was OK. The patio dining was the best part. It seemed ridiculously expensive on the sake. Sho chiku bai shouldn't be $20 for a 375ml

I woke up about 1 this morning totally shaking, thinking the baby octopus was making a valiant effort

We did cruise over to Miramar in Montecito for a drink. I entered into a wager with my brother for 2 weekend nights and one dinner, based on someone else's character. Not sure how soon I will be able to collect, but he will be very happy to pay if I'm correct

How many scary accidents do you see and whats something in common with them? Also do e90s or german sedans in general are usually safer in collisions?

Sedan_clan, This may have been asked in one of the 200+ pages so if its a repeat I apologize.

How many years have you been a LEO and in those years, how many times have you had to fire your weapon while on duty.

How often to you have to draw your weapon while on duty?

I ask because when my wife and I watch police shows, they seem to be firing in every episode. Please tell me that's not normal.

When you say "scary," do you mean tragic? If it's the latter, I would say multiple times a week. The common issue is speed…….almost always. The better the vehicle, the better the chance(s) of survival.

In the 10+ years I've been on the job, I have fired once; I draw my weapon every day however. Understand this: I work in a high crime, high gang activity area. These criminals are savages. Live-action police shows are designed for ratings. We aren't shooting daily. Would you watch the show if it was comprised primarily of footage of officers giving tickets or verbal warnings?!? I would wager the answer is "no." The ratings come from the foot pursuits, vehicle pursuits and/or shootings.

OMG - How fucked up is this? I just can't imagine you guys being out there every day with these nut jobs. A guy just pulls up on a cop during a traffic stop in IL and lunges at him with an ax? WTF. The video clip shows the body cam first and then the dash cam.

Be safe out there.

EDIT - Oops - Forgot link

Wow! Thankfully that officer was paying attention. At that distance the man with the axe could still get to the officer even after taking a few rounds.

Naw! The county already gave us that the end of 2020, beginning of 2021. We're getting another $1400 this year plus a 12% raise. It was a fight, but we got it. I get another pay step increase in July as well; I'll be topped out in steps next July. The bike will give me another 6% on top of everything else; 11% if the Motor Union gets their way. So that's 23-28% overall once it's all added together.
