YUK!
My GOsh! This photoCHOP is all Toyota! I don't believe BMW would chop the rear in the depiction. I look forward to better photos as we get closer to delivery in 2010 but this ain't it.

These "leaked" pictures seem to be just a 730d, various other 7er "trims" could include more aggressive front/rear bumpers, side skirts, kidneys, etc, for a more sporty look. Lets hope for that. I do like the over all design, it just doesn't have that aggressive "WOW" factor I was expecting with this new generation 7er...

From the side it doesn't look too bad... It looks a lot like the E90's profile with it's high trunk lid.
The front end is hideous, though.

four new pictures:
In the last picture you can see the instruments have screens on the bottom, which display messages and in "idle mode" they complete the ring and just display temperature and fuel consumption as it has ever been...stunning! engines from the start are: 730d 740i 750i R6 R6 V8 2.993 ccm 2.979 ccm 4.395 ccm Leistung 245 PS 326 PS 407 PS Drehmoment 540 Nm 450 Nm 600 Nm 0-100 km/h 7,2 s 5,9 s 5,2 s Vmax 245 km/h 250 km/h 250 km/h Verbrauch 7,2 L/100km 9,9 L/100km 11,4 L/100km only 6-gear automatic Last edited by rot; 07-03-2008 at 11:33 AM.. |

Sorry, but you are so wrong. The new 7er is 2009, not 2010. And it is slated to be unveiled on Monday. These are actual leaked photos. You can tell by the interior that there are actual new 7er photos.

These pictures have been out for a while, just not confirmed. Not sure why anyone is surprised. I'm sure the older folk will like it, which is the demographic BMW is probably going after anyway.

Not too exciting. The scary reality is that some of that styling will undoubtedly make its way to the 3-series eventually: larger grilles, angular and rounded lights, etc.

The interior is pretty nice, but the exterior, it's a bit bland. I don't understand why we have to grow to like this design, where as the S-class is beauty thrown in your face. I feel like the current 7 series is actually more nice than this one coming out, I really like how the current one is.

I really, really like it, but then again I've hated the current 7 series from day one and the havoc that Bangle and company have caused for most BMW models ever since. The e92 was the first BMW in a long, long time that I've really like the looks of, and it gave me hope for the future of the marque. Some points:
- The awful "Bangle Butt/Hoodyonk-a-donk-donk" has been a huge sore point for me. It's not so much that the trunk lid was "floating", in fact this has been done well by some copycats, but the gaps on the sides of the car were too much too take. It always looked low quality, as it was a mistake and wasn't shut properly. The only 5-6-7s that I could stand were in very dark colors where this shut line was mostly hidden. - The car definitely comes from the e92 design theme, if not quite as sleek overall. The profile, including the trunk, is proper BMW and not so weird like the current design. - The upright front of the car is, as others have noted, no doubt due to the European safety laws. There are certainly worse examples of this type of bloating, and the size of the grill tends to make it work better. The tiny grills on the current 7 and 5 gave those cars a somewhat wimpy look, and made the bumper seem abnormally chunky as a result. The front flows a lot more now, although I am still not crazy about the "hooded" look on the headlights. - The interior is clean, and what some might say is bland. I like that they are moving away from the awful "double hump" for the iDrive screen, and hope that this carries through to the rest of the line. Now if they can just fix the awful way that iDrive works... - The lower trim "beard" on the steering wheel looks silly. I'm guessing that this is the same material as on the dash, but the shape doesn't work very well. I'm not in the market for a 7 series, but might be in a few years when I'm old. My bet is that in 10 years we'll look back on the current 7 and laugh, but the new 7 will be viewed positively, and at the worst the new design won't be considered offensive to anyone. |

I'm so pissed right now. So fucking pissed. I mean, it's not horrible, but I was expecting to see those sexy CS-style taillights, and that front bumper, jeez. The taillights are atrocious. If anything, in my opinion the rear's even uglier than the outgoing 7. The proportions look awkward from the side. Everything's too soft. What the hell did they do to those taillights?! And the INTERIOR! Whyyyyy!!! Again, it looks way too similar, which isn't a good thing because even the outgoing A8/S-Class simply puts this to shame. Waaay to go BMW. I'm gonna have to be quite impressed in person, because this is a major fuck up on your part.
