Well, BMW hasn't done much in the past few years either in any form of racing, that's why I call the M division the Marketing division. At least you need to recognise that Toyota are trying and were pretty close to winning le Mans with fierce competition from Porsche and Audi. And on the road cars side, there are more exciting things to come from Lexus and Toyota for sure. look at the new Camry, which is a big departure from what it used to be. The twin turbo V6 has good future for Lexus cars (heck Ford and Honda uses a twin turbo V6 for their halo cars)... Honda only had epic success thanks to McLaren as they were engine supplier. They didn't have such success when they were making their own chassis... Mazda won le Mans... once and were never seen again...

seen it, hate it. The front end is what I have an issue with. I like the profile and love the rear. The front of the LC is what the LFA deserved. The exhaust note just matches the LC front end.

I have seen 3 LFAs in person. IMO it looks better in person than on photo. Yup, people are forgetting the LFA was unveiled way back in late 2009.

Anyways, doesnt make a difference if it was 2005. Ugly is ugly. Looking "better" in person doesnt mean it looks good in person.. its just not as ugly.. but still ugly. Enough LFAwful talk.. as for this LS, I like it, especially the interior. I think the weakest point is those horns behind the steering wheel. Doesnt work well in this interior, its better in the LFA and LC.

Well looks are subjective. With that said I wouldn't call the LFA front ugly. To me its a little boring and dull looking.

Exactly. do it means that the final design of the car was set at least 3 years prior so in 2006... for the LC concept, I was there for the launch in Sydney and it was just a concept. So since the production car was launched in 2016 you see how long it takes from concept to final product...

I don't think people question the reliability of Lexus/Toyota but as reliable as they are why would anyone want to ride around in such a ugly car for 300k miles.........Phil

Performances time of 4.5 sec from 0-60 seems to be in the same range as the S550 at 4.8 sec, and the rwd 750i at 4.6 sec and better than the rwd 740i at 5.4 sec. What I'm having mix feelings / hate is the bottom of the taillights. Also not feeling the c pillar area. Last edited by supra93; 01-10-2017 at 07:05 PM.. |

Like this car inside and out. Looks young and exciting. I think a good competitor to the 7. Would definitely cross shop if I were looking for such a car.

Mercedes and Lexus got it right, BMW and Audi are still playing catch-up. We have yet to see Audi's newest flagship, but BMW really dropped the ball with theirs IMO. It's not bad, but just very meh relative to the competition. |

I do like the exterior more than the 7 series. Not sure about the interior tho, Id have to sit in it and see how it feels. I do like the 7 interior a lot, the aluminum and ceramic. I hope the buttons for the AC arent plastic.
Most important is going to be the drive. Haven't driven the new 7 but I loved how the previous one drove, even more than the current S550, which was kind of disappointing.

You guys do realize this car has no V8 - that is a huge turnoff to many buyers in this class. 0-60 is one thing but smoothness and effortless power at any time cant be matched compared to a V8 TT.
Also Slcass and 7series buyers are conservative and dont want flamboyant styling. Hence why LS sold so well in the past in the shape of a brick. Also the car will have 5in of wheel gap once it hits production. Lexus show cars have a great stance but are completely changed once they go on sale. Last edited by R N M; 01-11-2017 at 01:56 PM.. |
