I really love the F01 msport, and they are all over the place in south Florida. I really hope BMW has some great surprises for us with the G11 since MB has raised the bar with the new s-class.

Bulls hit. The s class, like their whole lookalike lineup is ugly as fk. If any drooling is being done its in awe that something THAT hideous could cost so much? Who knows, who cares. Either way, nice hyperbole, but yeah, not ALL of us are impressed with that melted plastic on wheels/cla250-on-steroids.

G refers to the CFRP in the chassis and body, similar to the construction of the i3 and i8. The expectation is that the new 7 will lead the way and the other models will follow suit.
I agree that 2016 seems early but Mercedes just released their new S-class so it's smart for BMW to stagger the 7-series release between the new S-class and the S-class facelift. What you have to remember is that when we see a production car on sale, the engineering and design team are already working on a facelift or even the all-new replacement for the car that is "brand new" to us. |

the bump/curve on the hood tells me it's just an oversized F30 (3series) design!
Doesn't seem to have any revolutionary design incorporated...has anyone done a rendering on this G11? |

S class seriously lacks everything from interior to exterior design...I can not judge on the quality of a S class, although I imagine it should be high (never driven one)...but I have big issues with design...I can't even begin to think which one is worse than the other: the interior or the exterior! |

Your comment is spot on...the reasoning is that German manufacturers never try to market their same-class products at the same time of rivals' release... This jeopardizes theirs as well as other brands' marketshare... so they take turns...you never see BMW, Audi, and M-B release all their same-class cars at same time... The face-lift is a different story...it's an after market effort to try to keep the same product up-to-date so that people still buy the vehicle, especially when it coincides with rival's new product... |

This should be huge for BMW. They have a history of design languages going through evolution-then-revolution cycles that go two generations at a time. Will they continue this tradition?

Don't like the hood cut line. Car generally seems a little ugly like the last E generation 7.
If weight sets a benchmark for the segment then it will be much lighter than current Jag XF which means the 750 will probably be lighter than the 550i. Logical engine for M770 is S63tu. Will be impressive at 4400lbs.
