Gyeon Glass Coating

Just applied Gyeon's Q2 View. Without any other product with which to compare, I can only report that beading is (very) good, no haze, no streaking, and no neg impact on wiper function (might have helped that I added a little of the coating to the blades).

Took two 15-minute intervals to install--but very easy process. Not sure I'll repeat when this coat wears off...we'll see.

That is what we install on customer vehicles when we do coatings, also a popular service coming up here on winter.

Results and performance are awesome.

Thank you - I have been wanting to get "professional" feedback. I have detailing shop near me and they told me to just forget glass coatings and keep the window clean.
But it's raining so much here in the Netherlands...

I’m also in the “au naturale” camp for glass. Every coating I’ve tried, to me, only made a marginal difference. As the coating wears out, I always ended up with streaky or patchy areas in my wiper contact footprint. The frequency of reapplication to prevent this made the effort not worth the very small benefit.

Now to be fair, I always foam my cars with Griot’s Foaming Poly Gloss before the final rinse, so that does provide some hydrophobicity to my glass. It only lasts one wash, though, and I’ve never experienced any film buildup or wiper streaking.

I have been a lifelong Rain-X man. I used the Cerakote headlight restorer this summer on my E85 and it worked AMAZING. I was shocked. So I tried their windshield ceramic coating. Not impressed. It works OK but for all the work, it works about like (if not less that) the Rain-X I slap on a few times a year and it works perfect. Live and learn.

Windshield care … myself I degrease the glass very I will even foam it with a degreaser or wash it with a degreaser or both .

Then I use nano wax …wipe it on let it sit for 5 minutes wipe it off with a few towels very easy . I was just in the rain and snow and for good 5 minutes didn’t even need to put my wipers on and the wax helps the wipers I feel . Good luck

Honestly just depends a lot on the maintenance habits of the owner and what you are or are not willing to do. If you clean it pretty regularly, your spray wax choice or sealant choice is generally good enough for your windshield. If you don't, then a glass coating can do wonders for you. Have to choose the right product and apply correctly to avoid wiper skip and stutter. We use GYEON View and GYEON quickview. Quickview is definitely the more consumer or DIY friendly version. Super easy to put on and take off. And it depends how much weather your vehicle sees too.

There are just a lot of factors that go into it other than "this product is crap and didn't work the very first time I tried it."

Thanks - I live in the Netherlands, so a lot of rain, and little to no snow.
That being said, any kind of spray wax or sealant leaves a haze for a few seconds after the wiper wipes. Even on a squeky clean windshield.
Glass coating (Glaco) does not have that issues, but I had terrible wiper judder develop after about a week or so. So I am getting the Gyeon Q2 View Evo later today and applying it. Let's see how it works.

Another Rain-X user. Have used it on my cars for decades. I also used it on my motorcycle helmet shields, no problems.

I just use whatever ceramic detail spray I use to clean up the car after washing. It works great on glass.

My biggest long-term dissapointment for ALL windshield rain coatings has been their limited longevity/durability that is well shorter than advertised.

Many coatings work great right after you apply them.
But then degrade within a few weeks or a couple of months of real-world use. More quickly on the cars parked outside.

1). Glaco has been the most fragile. It self destructed for me in under 6 weeks, especially in the area under wiper arms. And then it triggered hyper-aggresive wiper blade chatter. Never again.
2). RainX lasts longer than Glaco, and decays gradually. Easy to replenish by adding RainX to windshield washer fluid. Solid plan B!
3). Gyeon QuickView has been among the longer lasting coatings. Still doing something after ~6 months and this winter, but degraded. Potential plan A-.
4). Griot's Ceramic Glass Coating. Cheap, surprisingly effective, longer last than RainX. My current plan A.
5). Not to be confused with Griot's Ceramic Glass Cleaner - absolutely terrible to apply, terrible longevity, and terrible wiper chatter. Never again.
6). Adam's graphene Ceramic Glass Coating - great when applied, gone in under 4 weeks. Never again.

YMMV,
a

I see several references to using RainX washer fluid. Has anyone experienced issues with the silicones in the RainX fluid gumming up their washer system as noted in this post. https://bimmertips.com/pro-tip-dont-...d-in-your-bmw/

The Griot's coating is fantastic. I apply it every six months, and could probably go longer than that.

But yeah, the Ceramic Glass Cleaner sucks donkey balls. It was so bad that I actually ended up tossing the bottle in the garbage.

A few years ago I stumbled into the Chris fix how to "super clean your windshield" video. I tried it the next day and found it to be quite good. I've not felt the need to change anything.

Outside - glass cleaner, clean towels, clay bar, more glass cleaner, and just whatever nice wax you use on your paint. It lasts for over a year. No issues with the wipers or anything. I also like to put some of the gummi pfledge rubber treatment on the wiper blades along with the door seals.

Inside - same glass cleaner, isopropyl alcohol for the plastic vapors, and more glass cleaner

Not personally, but the issues posted by others are reason enough for me to skip it.

I ran it for years in my last car (a little over 5 years?) and I didn't have a problem with the washer system. However, I stopped using Rain X washer fluid in my BMW because I did not like the haze the Rain X washer fluid leaves when you use it with a wiper. It's a slight haze and fades away but I find it annoying.

Now I just use the BMW Concentrate with distilled water.

Nope.
Been using it for 30+ years, and the bulk of my vehicle fleet over those years (used to be) were BMWs.
These days, I just buy premixed RainX washer fluid appropriet for the season, but I also have some of the concentrated mixture that I add into the reservoir once in a while.

Zero issues with washer fluid systems on any of the cars. Ever.
Rain-X washer fluid is not sticky in any way, so the validity of the claim is rather suspect.

Same here, on both counts.
I've applied Gyeon QuickView on front windshield and side windows of one car and Griots on the rear, while the other car got Griots on the front and sides, and Geyon on the rear glass. Both cars are parked outdoors next to each other.

~6 months later, zero difference in water beading between the two. Griot's might be a bit stronger. Geyon was 4x more expensive than Griot's. Geyon was all used up in that one application, Griots bottle is still 3/4 full.

a

P.S.: Just remembered, I had also tried 7). Stoner Invisible Glass Ceramic Glass Coating. Worked great, but did not last as long as Griots or Gyeon QuickView.
P.P.S.: A few times, when renting a car for a week on vaction with the family, I've been known to pull into the nearest WallMart and buy some RainX and paper towels to clean/treat the windshield. Somehow, rental car windshields are the worst inside and out, and fixing that improves my driving enjoyment (and safety) enormously.
