I use the old trusted method when I'm ready for sleep of counting sheep or something else.
I coincide it with my breathing, takes mind of things and I'm usually dozing off eventually.

I'd like to just go on record and state that the marriage proposal, that continues to be brought up, was in jest. I'd rather cut both of my own feet off with a rusty butter knife than to be married again. That is all.

I know, I use the saying too. I doubt it's a British thing, always assumed it was universally used, not sure as to origins, but now I'm wondering since my mother was Scottish.
