While I actually don't mind the new grills, I'm just curious as to how a front license plate would fit on the car, especially since BMW doesn't have the advantage of hiding radar cruise in the emblem. They should use audi's approach of putting them where the fog lights would go, looks much cleaner than a big block in the center of the lower air intake.
Also, the placement of that tow hook really ruins the lines of the car. |

The photos could have been taken with a wide angle lens that distorts. I would reserve judgment on the grille until it can be seen in person. Frankly, it doesn't look so bad to me, especially compared to Audi and Lexus, both of which are hideous. MB maintains its classic grill very well in its designs.

Thanks. I am envious that you could have a IRL look. The grille is a matter of taste. I understand the objections, but I think a big grille on a big car is OK, as long as it is not grossly out of proportion. I do not like the downward protruding Audi grilles nor the large double trapezoid on Lexus at all. I'm ok with the Mercedes understated approach -- I suppose some would call that boring.
I am very interested in what they did to the interior electronics. Updating to the latest iDrive would appear to be a given. The rest of the current G11/12 interior is fine with me though some new interior colors (and exterior as well) would be welcome.

The rest of the interior hasn't changed that much regarding the layout of climate controls and center console. There are 3 new exterior colours (donington grey, bernina grey and a ruby red) and i'm not sure but thought the guy said some new interior colours. |

I'm not sure I will ever get used to the huge grills or fake tailpipes...just not my cup of tea.

I'm glad they're using more of the Vision Future Luxury concept, but I think they should have gone farther. I think the concept's sharper headlights are important to the design, and the 7er's rounded jellybean shaped headlights make it look kind of bulbous and blobby especially with the gigantic grilles. Also not a fan of the new character lines on the hood.
