You can say a lot about Bangle and his styling designs for BMW about 20 years ago, but what you cannot say is that those designs were copies of others. Those designs were copied by other manufacturers to this day -that Bangle "butt" is everywhere now.
Fast forward 20 years, and this BMW styling is based on everybody else's. All BMW styling trademarks are dumped for what cheaper brands are doing. While the major styling complaint is about the new grill size -from BMW styling history, nonetheless- the rest of these cars look like some other brand. Lexus, Nissan, Audi, Hyundai styles are in there. This has never happened before, a BMW looked like a BMW and that was it. There must be change in styling to keep being relevant in this business, that is not the problem. The problem, IMO, is that BMW is going lazy with the styling. From a position of having one of the few brands with a well-defined personality, they want to go to the favorite look of the week thing, regardless if the styling says other brand. Which may be acceptable if you are selling mainstream, inexpensive cars -and even then, Hyundai is saying that is not acceptable even for an $18,000 Elantra- but a $100,000 BMW looking like a Hyundai with a BMW roundel is not a good styling job. |

That COVID really had drastic effect on the designers lately... 😢

BMW is turning into the German GM. Horrendous styling and empire execution running rampant. This thing looks like a Chinese 7-series knock-off had a baby with a Pontiac Aztek.

I'm confused, the 7 series LCI was just released and was already a pretty drastic change. Why are they doing this, and why so soon?

Split headlights may well be in the pipeline, the idea is already being suggested with split corona rings, see X3/X4 LCI:
From then on, fully split headlights don't seem too far-fetched an idea. Might this be Josef Kaban's or Domagoj Dukec's influence from Skoda over to BMW? Last edited by advantage20; 10-31-2020 at 02:35 PM.. |

Curious, why do we think the headlight will even look like that? I get that the angel eyes are pretty much done and we now have a weak iteration of the ICON design but where was it even hinted that it was going to be a split design? This doesn't even look like a BMW regardless if this is a render.

there hasn't been an LCI or redesign since buying my car that has even tempted me slightly.

Why does other people making jokes about enlarged lung grilles affect you when it's not even the car you're trying to buy? I'll wait for the reveal but let's be honest, other than the E38, the 7 series was never a looker. Please at least not be ghastly and ostentatious like the G8x. |

I beg to differ. They all look great aside from the G11 LCI. I know folks don't like the Bangle 7er or think the F01 looks bland but they look sporty, stately and imposing on the street IMHO. Let's not forget that the Bangle 7 series is the only one to actually beat the S class in sales. Perhaps you and other connesouirs might not like them, but that doesn't speak for the rest of us. Just my 2 cents since you asked us to be honest.
