And there you have it! This was done by BMW with the help of their engineer. It doesn’t have a UI toggle but come on only with head lights, parking and it’s on when in remote start. Performs just like it should during initial lighting and turning off, a soft fade.

Wow, $3200 US???

I must have I love the look of it, though….

We have it on our X7, too, but it’s just an ambient light in the two grille sections as opposed to an outline. It’s nowhere near as cool as the one on my I7. Looks very mean at night (my car is black with rhe M Pro blacked out grille, etc.).

Yes, they dedicated a lot of time trying to get this done. It was a 1st time.

Has anyone had the silver grille with the iconic glow on the i7 painted black? I’m picking mine up today, but the silver grille glow is the one thing I’m not loving about the look. If you’ve done it, is removing the grille straightforward, or would I need to order the M Sport Professional blacked-out due to the iconic light built into the grille? Appreciate any advice or recommendations!

Replace the Grille, I believe the whole entire front vehicle cap needs to be removed. Better get the professionals to handle this. It could possibly through alarms once harnesses are disconnected.

Bumping this thread a little..

Swapping the chrome illuminated grille for the black illuminated grille looks costly. If you didnt care about the illumination, is swapping to the black grille alot more straightforward?

I am planning on ordering an i7 but £2,500 for the black grille seems steep. If I can swap it out without taking off bumpers etc by not having the illumination I would order with the chrome.

I did the same swap on my 840 but the i7 grille is much bigger and looking at earlier posts, bumpers might have to come off.

What information are you trying to find through the VIN?
