This is why I love this forum (new to BMW, hi!). Very insightful. I was simply looking around for things I need to buy to clean/detail my car, and I feel this thread more than answered the microfiber towels part!

I dry mine on the lowest temp setting for my dryer. I've always found a clothesline to be preferable if you have that option for ensuring that you're minimizing the stress that all your fabrics take during laundering.

Yeah, I don't really know if there's anything to the "don't put them in the dryer" thing, other than what I hear and read. I've always avoided it just because it's easy to hang them up, so why not? But it definitely could be one of those conventional wisdom things that everyone repeats without really knowing why they're saying it.

Case dependent, I guess. I tend to save up towels until I have enough to wash, and afterwards I just want the job of washing them over with (I'm not patient by nature!). I could do it, but cross my fingers the low heat isn't too harmful on them.

Blackline is impressive! Previously, used to use Meguiar's magnet towels

Same. Use cheaper Rag Co. black towels to dry the wheels with 303 graphene detailer as a drying aid.

i know this sounds strange but i've had amazing recent luck with drying the car spotfree on my ceramic finished G16 using these crazy microp-fiber-super-soft 'hot yoga mat' line of towels. They absorb so much when i pull them slowly across the surface of my car after the leaf blower water removal. I buy them and cut them up into a variety of sizes and they also work great as a final step for cleaning the glass. I'm completely taken with these and highly recommend. My wife wasn't thrilled when she saw i scavenged her towel mat but when i showed her the result and her spotless clean white G16 she was shocked and happy. I have purchased a couple more and am so pleased, good luck....
