If you arrive with the ambulance, the corps' insurance covers you 100%. If you arrive on your own, you have no insurance coverage from the corps' policy and were at the mercy of good samaritan laws...even if you were logged on-call with the volunteer ambulance department and carrying a pager/radio.

Sadly, there's a reason why people here in NY just keep on walking whenever they see a person in distress.....
If Good Samaritan laws, when put into practice, did as they were purported and designed to do, I truly believe more people would be willing to help (…and they do when it comes to certain things like traffic collisions, but will walk right by or “film for clicks” if somebody is being assaulted). We’ve created a very unhealthy environment for good people, and society suffers as a result. Ten good men can almost always overcome one bad man.

I use Daniel Penny’s situation because most are familiar with it. In a right-side-up world, that man would’ve been congratulated by the masses for subduing a crazy person threatening to kill people, and who had the means and the present ability to do so. Instead he was treated like the villain. The next strong man will think twice…..no, five times….before even considering helping.

Thinking it might have been an eiffel tower situation, but Sedan might be able to provide more salacious details.

What I'm more curious about is the last two words - does that mean the infant was uncooperative? I mean...d'uh, but funny if it were so.

You dudes have me rolling.

Those last few words means, “the informant was uncooperative”.

The “DP” or “DPS” means “disturbing party/parties”. Basically a soft way of saying suspect(s).

Yes, many, many times. I use tint violations as a reason to conduct traffic stops on gang members.

How do you know they are gang members? Asking so I can avoid them if I ever see one.

The type of car, certain aesthetic choices present on the car, the general area I patrol, the driver (…if I can see them; usually blasted….aka, head, neck and face tattoos), etc.

You recognize these things, too, even though you don’t readily perceive your recognition of the signs.

I never see that stuff where I live. But then not much gang activity where I live. Which is WHY I live where I live.

When forced to drive into Phoenix my spidey senses increase.

I completely understand that. Living around the drama adds so much static to daily life. I try to stay as far away from the crime as I can, which is why I live where I live as well. I wish they’d stop developing the desert because it invites riff-raff.

I'm out of town and wife discovers she left garage door open all night. Nothing gone.

Biggest problem is if a coyote gets too close to the house when it decides to sing it's song of it's people.

Yeah, I pay for the 7-day storage. It has been super helpful, especially when packages are delivered.
