A couple of my partners just yanked a gray GT2RS from a reckless driving/exhibition of speed stop.

I have that. didn't stop her leaving the door open most of the night. I do not have the history pay for service with them. I do have a ring camera and pay for that and no one entered my garage that night. Heck no one drove by my house which isn't unusual.

I figured I'd post this here instead of starting a thread on it. What do you guys think about this Nancy Guthrie abduction in Tucson? The coverage here is 24/7. So sad, but I think she's dead. She goes missing on Saturday night/Sunday morning and no ransom requests until days later? No proof of life, 2 different deadlines pass.

I don't want to go into details, but I have seen multiple signs in the family's video pleas that suggest professional ransom negotiators have been involved all along.....

I just hope she's alive. It's terrible.

With the passing of deadlines it doesn’t look good.

Short deadlines are common in ransom scenarios, so that there's a rush to comply rather than let investigators search for clues that could cause the miscreants to be caught.

If the ransom claims are legitimate, whoever did the kidnapping has a lot of effort and research invested in the crime and is not going to be in a rush to throw it all away because of some arbitrary deadline passing. Like I wrote above, I see signs of professional ransom negotiators being involved from the wording and stalling actions in the family's videos thus far.

Also worth mentioning is that Tucson is less than an hour's drive to the Mexico border, and kidnappings like this are common in some Central American countries like Guatemala. I would not be shocked to see a link to some Central American gang.....

The FBI was able to get pictures off the Ring camera even though she didn't have a subscription. This whole thing seems off. I'm sure LEO is holding back stuff but still. Poor lady.

Which sibling do you suspect of running off with a cartel kilo?

I doubt that drugs were involved. Grabbing hostages is a business of its own in places like Guatemala.

We were in a Belize national park on the Guatemala border as part of a cruise shore excursion many moons ago, and the tour guides warned our entire bus to avoid the tree line at the far side of the park because it was the Guatemala border and it was not uncommon for someone to try and grab hostages when they knew an American cruise ship was in port. The Belize army actually had a half dozen soldiers armed with M16's patrolling the tree line while we were there.

People on sailboats and yachts are also occasionally the targets for being taken hostage if they sail too close to the coast near some African countries, but that seems to be targeting British citizens and not Americans.....

This DUI driver completely sheered the first electrical pole in half and almost sheered the second electrical pole in half as well. The crash left both upper portions of the poles suspended by only the electrical wires. The driver is a known gang member who fled the scene following the crash.

Yeah they do, but like every other department, they are short on uniformed personnel as well. We are down 3,000 sworn. It’s bad!

Is there a new social media challenge going on? On that TV show last Friday and Saturday, several distant jurisdictions all responded to "burglary in progress" calls from scared occupants of one-floor houses. Tapping on windows all around the house, rattling door knobs, seemingly trying to scare people and get a police swatting-like response rather than actually trying to gain entry. I don't think that it was just a slow weekend where they were showing calls that would not normally be aired. It seemed to me like there was a new TicTak challenge going on, trying to scare older people. Just wondering if it is something new, or just coincidental?????

Not that I know of, but there is the social media challenge involving banging on - or attempting to kick in - doors and running, a challenge often perpetuated by juveniles.

Recent police-related items of note -

Perhaps not the best place to hide on trash pickup day -

And my favorite, from The Week's "good news" newsletter (copied since I don't have a link) - it must be amazingly rewarding to literally save a life, and what a benefit to the community this is!

IN A HEARTBEAT
Defibrillators in police cars credited with saving lives

Cardiac arrest survival rates jumped from 10% to 47% in McKinney, Texas, after automated external defibrillators (AEDs) were placed in all police vehicles and neighborhoods across the city. The McKinney Fire Department launched the initiative two years ago, basing it on a similar program in Seattle. The goal is to ensure that an AED is “never more than four minutes away from any cardiac event,” said Good News Network. In the last year, the AEDs have helped quickly revive nine McKinney residents.
