For the first time ever
The visualizer has to be a joke. Those grills are worse than the X7 due to lack of vertical height. I've been positive on the grill and I thought the X5 was going to look good but seeing it live I think the grill style comes off as akward and too pronounced. The rear and side view looks good, better wheels would help the elegance. |

I hope the big grilles grow on me, though I can't imagine them growing any larger!

I just wish they had a luxury line of the new X5.

It would be interesting to see the grill size ratio to the entire front end of the car in traditional BMW vs this new trend of monster truck size grills BMW is so into.
My guess based on the 7 series model line.. Old 5-10% grill to front end ratio New 40-50% grill to front end ratio

Surprised that they renewed the hockey stick as well. A very extensive facelift on the outside. While the M Sport package is an improvement, the non M-Sport is a step back IMO. The M760i looked stunning with excellence package

Great find! I always love these official renderings.
What bothers me is that the top of the grille is too high above the headlight. I did a Photoshop nip/tuck as to what it should be. But than again it's too similar to the current G11 minus the sharp angles. I'm all for the large imposing grille as long as it's executed properly.

Nice I think, love the wheels but I think the grill might be too large for this car

I posted this thread and video back in Oct'17 looks like the new 7er was pretty accurate to what the artist depicted.
https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=22275993 Lots of the X7 is in the new 7er, which I'm actually surprised about. More like a whole new model over a refresh.

The 750Li Msport looks the best to me. It flows better front to back. The 760's tail pipes look out of place with the LCI and the non Msport 750 front fascia looks like an old geezer smiling with no teeth or Popeye.

I just can't get past the grills. Too much, previous poster's nip/tuck looks better.
Well, could be worse I suppose?...

that's pretty extensive for a refresh. compared to the e38 and e65 LCIs, this car gets new fenders and hood as well. sheet metal is almost all new. seems like so much work for an LCI that will get replaced soonish.

Is this for real? Can they really have decided to put THAT big of a grille on it?

It is indeed .. to my eyes, it seems more like a new generation model than a normal facelift. It one of their most aggressive and extensive LCI to date, from its exterior design to the power plants offered. I guess lagging sales pushed them to refresh the car extensively to revive sales.
