All impact areas. PPF full car ceramic coated. Car looks sparkling. Was expensive, Yes.. I don't care. I will do it on my next car as well. It's Night and Day. People always comment on how the color of my car pops compared to other YMB. Best decision ever.

2024 XB7  [10.00]
I got my 24 XB7 a few weeks ago.
I delayed picking up the car a couple days till my Auto Spa had room to take my XB7 in as in Michigan the roads suck and stone chips are common. I knew if I drove it a couple days Id get a stone chip and hate myself LOL
I was debating just the track pack (front, mirrors, rockers etc) but ended up going full PPF. Total cost installed for the whole XB7 with Kavacas top film was 7K (I got a break as I know the owner) they said a full XB7 would normally be about 8500 as its such a big vehicle and not the easiest to install with all the curves etc. I think it was money well spent as I bought the XB7. If I was leasing I doubt Id care.

Would you still apply if you already got one or two chips? Mine has 700 miles. I’ve been super careful as I was contemplating it, and yet still managed to get two — one in around the kidney grill, and one inside brake duct.

No, you will see it. Fix them and then do the PPF. They will do a paint correction before PPF is installed.

I scheduled to have PPF installed on the full front on my M340i about a week after I took delivery. Found the closest installer that XPEL listed on their website and set it up. My previous car had picked up nicks in the paint on the hood over time, and wanted to try to protect against that. I see it as an investment to try to keep the car looking great for as long as possible.

I was impressed with how it turned out. Also went for the ceramic coating, too.

I think its a waste of money to ceramic coat the PPF. I have been using Optimum Spray Wax on my full PPF 23 M340i for 2 1/2 years and it is perfect.

The highways in Florida suck and they are constantly doing construction adding more lanes on I-95. When I only had a few hundred miles on my car I picked up a rock chip on the lower part of my front bumper while driving on that @#&%*$ road.

I purchased a bottle of BMW touchup paint for my Misano Blue color and my shop applied it before putting PPF on my Z4. They did a great job with the touchup paint which was an excellent color match and you couldn't see the damage after PPF was put on the car unless you were looking for it up close only a few inches from the bumper.

I would do it to prevent more. Just remember if you get any big rock chips, it will puncture and it will leave a mark with a bunched up PPF dot. Less visible on a darker color car, it will look like grey/black dots on a white car lol.

Both your Individual Riviera Blue and Yas Marina Blue are Uni (non metallic) colors and after seeing your car back in April at my local Ft. Lauderdale dealer, I definitely agree that RB pops more.

However Yas Marina Blue which was available for several years on the M3's and M4's is still a beautiful color to see in person and I would have ordered it on my Z4 if it was a color I could have selected. What I always liked about YMB, is how depending on the time of day and the lighting it changed and you would see different shades of blue. 😎

Indeed. I really love the YMB and every day I had it such a great color. The RB looks more like the waters of Cancun in direct sunlight like Miami blue vibes. It's a great color too.

Riviera, Miami, Daytona beach, and Turkish blue are my favorites of the new G body.

The ceramic coating was for the rest of the car. PPF was only for the front.

Back in the day when it was available, one of my friends owned a M3 in YMB. He is now driving a M3 Competition in Brooklyn Grey and was really disappointed that he couldn't order YMB as an Individual color as he would have selected it again

My worry would be how different the parts with PPF would weather and look from the non PPF parts.

I have seen some gorgeous wraps on the net, but makes me wonder if it last 10 years and cost $7500US, in 10 years if the car is sold and its peeled off, will the car fetch 7500 more because the paint is in great nick.

If sold before 10 years who would buy a second hand car with a wrap on, not me.

Then in 10 years the car has depreciated 75%+ from its original sale price, so does it matter anyway.

In Australia wraps last about 5 years due to the sun, my sapphire black bonnet (hood) is 14 years old and just starting to ever so slightly fog with the clear failing. $4000Au would see the bonnet, roof, and boot (trunk) redone, or I could do it for $250 in paint. Respray the front cowling for stone chips, $1200 or $100 respectively.

Just saying wraps are nice but expansive for what they are.

I wouldn't.
The delicacy of maintenance regime for the condom-wrapped exterior is too much for me to bother.

On a collectible car that doesn't see the rain, mud and bugs. Perhaps.
On a daily driver / track toy - no way.

That is a consideration, especially if someone wraps only part of a body panel (hood, fender, etc.). The difference in paint weathering will be hard to hide afterwards.

Zero chance of seeing any ROI above 0 on that..
Never mind the fact that PPF will not last 10 years and you will need to have replaced it by then (figure $7.5K * 2 = $15K).

That's another concern - buying a used car in a condom may potentially be hiding various paint problems!

Not that the folks who aggressively sell you PPF will mention any of the above during the sales pitch!

Buyer beware,

I put PPF on the front of my M550i and realized how cool this product is after 50,000 miles and no scars on the front of my vehicle. When I bought my M8 I had the whole vehicle PPF'd. Totally believe in the product. Not cheap but anything worth it rarely is. Also, I didn't do it for resale value, I did it because I want to keep my vehicles in the best shape possible. This helps me do that.

Need some help on my 2008 528xi. The screen is stuck in the bmw logo continuous reboot mode. Is it the CCC? Or is it something else. All the research I’ve done hasn’t helped me one bit and none of the shops/ dealers are answering the phones lol

I had my early 2023 G87 done with a full body STEK. I did my own graphene coating on top of it.

Recently, I got caught in a freak, brutal hailstorm. There's clearly a small pock mark in the roof railing area, another in the trunk (can only see if you really concentrate) but I swear its been the best investment besides a new suspension/camber plates/monoballs/toelinks/blockers.

I recently switched from Chem Guys Hydrosuds to Adams Graphene Shampoo. The shine is incredible and the hydrophobics are nuts.

I bought a used 2022 X5 a year ago WTH several dings, but after driving it 10k highway miles it has conservatively twice as many now…all front end and hood. I’ll definitely consider partial PPF in my next one due to the crappy practice in TX of bot tar and scattering gravel in a highway and calling it good.

I never did understand why car manufacturers(BMW or otherwise) wouldn't offer PPF as a factory option. Seems like a big source of profit. The average cost is $5000. People are willing to pay it. Heck, on top of making it a factory option, sell customers a "BMW Protection Plan for PPF" for another $1000. Covers peeling or failing PPF for 5 years or something. Pure profit!
