I used my launch control in my S4 DSG once in 3 years. The day that I sold it for my manual M3, and it was only because I realized that I had never experienced it for myself, so better late than never. People don't drive like that. I could see it as a 1/4 mile track feature but how many people are really buying it for the 1/4 mile? The case for a good automatic vs a manual is there, but launch control is so far down the list of reasons when you look at the whole picture of owning a street car and what you're using it for.

It's what most of the US has, because most people live in the cities with straight roads. Straight line performance is accessible for a lot more people and they seek it out.

I'll take a light-weight, nicely balanced 200 - 250 HP car that I can drive 300,000 miles with not much trouble over a 700 HP launch machine. |

The C8 not only was tested on a different day and on much better tires, but chevy also did a “track” alignment. Here is the only true head to head of the 992S and C8 so far. |

I know SportAuto did their super test on the 992, and hopefully they get their hands on a C8 too. |

Take '16-18 Miata, add Edelbrock Supercharger or BBR turbo, wheels/tires/suspension............enjoy. Of course if you wanted to track it you'd need to add brakes and cooling for engine/trans/diff, but that's a different story. |

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

I’m purposely staying away. It seems first year problems are way worse than usual. Brake issue, seat belt issue, frunk issue, panel misalignments, engine valve spring problem, paint coming off, engine failure within a few hundred miles, and there’s more. Right now there’s a stop sale, so no new deliveries until they fix the next issue. I wouldn’t want to pay $80k to have my car sit at the dealership service bay.

Anyone following the C8R racing teams? They seem to be doing quite well, but maybe the articles I'm seeing are cherry-picked.

They don’t seem to be doing as well as the C7R teams did, but this is their first year out and almost everyone else has raised the bar.
