I believe that's about 2 feet difference? (there's also roughly half a tonne weight difference )
(and if you mean the 2004 6 series (e64), it's about the same, it's lenght is 4820mm so only 3" shorter than the 2011-2016 model

The new Z4 series is however a lot wider than the previous one.
In fact, the lenght/width ratio is about the same as the first z4, giving it a 'butch' appearance. When the 2nd z4 came out (e89) it grew about 6" in lenght but not in width, making it look more like a long car instead of a short, wide sportscar. Now that ratio is restored.
Bear in mind that the wheelbase hardly changed with the z4, so it's all in overhang on bumper/boot.
According to the internet, the f12 6 series is 2" wider and 3" taller than the new Z4. Yes, it's longer (20") and heavier.

Again - we're comparing the biggest coupe BMW makes with the smallest car they make. And visually, there's barely any difference.

One thing I can't find data on is the hood height - I'd bet a quarter the new Z4 is darn near level with the 6er. I reckon that's what makes it look so "big".

And again...we're comparing the Z4 with the last gen 6 series. The fact that they're even CLOSE is a problem.

I'm not a big fan of that design at all.

Sigh.

How is Mitsubishi still in business?
Wow, can a manufacturer put more hateful things into one vehicle?

Yes, they can, and they will.

They're not close.
If you dont spot a 57cm difference then you need a pair of glasses.. it's not the cars. (the 6 series is 4894mm long, the z4 is 4324 mm long, which is a 57 cm difference, which is almost 2')

Even 2" wider and 3" higher are big differences.

And depending on how you look at it, the Z4 isn't the smallest car BMW makes, it's probably the 1 series; that is 4" narrower in the base model (however higher of course). The 1 series also uses a smaller platform (UKL2 vs. CLAR)

I don't know what your point is, but the z4 and 6 series aren't close, also not visually (if you think they are, then my eyesight is apparantly better; spotting almost 2' difference isn't that hard.). Obviously the z4 grew in size incrementally with each iteration like I wrote, but the 6 is still a way bigger car.
That they're close in your eyes is not 'a' problem, its YOUR problem.

It's kind of amazing how stale Mitsubishi has become. They were killing it back in the 90's with the 3000gt, eclipse, and talon. What the heck happened?

I owned a 3000GT VR4 back in the day.
It was comfy and capable. Id like to see a triumphant return. But it would need 500hp for @ $60k to be relevant.

I saw my first one in the wild. I did a double take because I thought it was a vert 4er for a split second

I'd probably buy any other car brand before I bought a Mitsubishi.
