It's a 740. Why would someone in MD purchase a RWD? They'll probably have a hard time selling it or will just trade it with a Southern dealer.

Sales tactic. Get a "rare" spec early to sell to early adopters/enthusiasts. There's always a handful BMW owners that jump on new generations.

God is a sucker. The guy from BMW that deigned this would've done a far better job with the universe.

+1 Love the "slab" look from the side.

Out of curiosity, would anybody actually buy this, or are these just leased as tax-write machines? Genuinely curios. Not too knowledgeable on write-offs.

I keep trying to like those headlights but just can't do it yet. People complain about big grills (which I don't mind fwiw) but those tiny headlights are just so unbalanced with the big car.

Pretty much my thoughts. Interior was lovely, although I do have some big criticisms with iDrive 8. I like the rear, and sides are generally ok despite a few nitpicks, but I can't get with the front. Darker colors hide it, but I don't want another black or grey car, and I actually think the Luxury-Line front end is better (still bad though) but only available on the i7.

To quote my post in the banned thread "an equal mix of brilliance and why the f*** did they do that."

Section 179 is the big company write off, but that is mainly applied to SUV's and vans, and I believe it is ending this year.

All bmw enthusiasts were talking crap about the LCI 2023 X7 as well. Yet, when the car actually came out, all of a sudden everyone is in love with the split headlights and say how great it looks in person. I personally like the new design and can't wait for my ordered car to get here.

The folks talking crap on the X7 are different BMW customers from the crowd who likes it and ordered the car.

The front will grow on everyone. The back is fine. The interior is great. But it has the side profile of something American, I think. Almost like a muscle car or something. That's not what I want when I think German luxury sedan.

I'm sure it will sell like hotcakes and I know it will grow on everyone. It just doesn't have any exterior elegance. I think a 6 figure, full size luxury sedan should have some elegance to how it flows.

The 7er is a chunky looking car and has been since the F01 debuted in '09. Almost SUV-like now in my opinion. Somehow the S-class still manages to look sleek and timelessly elegant.

This 7er is definitely chunky thanks to its boxier proportions and gigantic size (its almost 5-inches longer than the S-Class!). I think most of the newer BMW's look chunkier compared to their predecessors as the F-Series cars used very tight body-lines and creases which almost looked like tailored suits. The newer cars have swapped these tight lines for very faint and almost bulbous creases and body-lines in comparison. They look more loose to go with the tight suit analogy.

I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree on the F01. The F01 was a great looking 7er, especially the LCI. The E65 even in its improved LCI form still has some design quirks, and will always look chunkier to me due to its lack of harder creases and body-lines (similar to the new cars). The F01 7er and F10 5er may not be the best driving Bimmers, but they were very good looking cars in my opinion sans the hood-line. Just very elegant and stately, something the new cars just lack.

In my opinion, I don't think flagship cars should be incredibly shouty and in your face. While I get that there's the idea that you want to be seen, I think the full-size class should be all about opulence and elegance. I want a timeless design over something that is very here and now and in your face.

One thing that has really bugged me in person about the new 7er was the grill over and underbite. These bits that stick out remind me of teeth, like when a horse opens up its mouth.

Good lord what has BMW come to. That front end is hideous. BMW needs to fire the entire design team (or at least the front end division) and start over.

I agree the F series generation were good looking 7er and 5er. I actually like the size and shape of my G30 and prefer it to the F10, but that's not to take away from the F10. I was side by side with one this morning and it looked great.

I think the G11 is a really good looking 7. Versatile between sport and luxury trims. Great ride.

I think it's the boxy element that I don't like about this new 7. The G11 and G30 are "long and flat" looking in a way that I really like. The boxy part is the turn off for me.

But I know a lot will like it and I'm not in the market for one right now, so I'm not the target anyway!

Fake news. People aren't going to warm up to the styling.

You either love it or you don't.

I also don't think this will sell like hot cakes.
