Traded in my 135i for GT500
Hey guys, I recently became interested in the 2011 gt500 SVTPP. I've only owned my 135i for 6 months and got the craving for a bit more power...plus a LSD...plus more power (did I mention that?).
I loved my 135i. It's a great car. Handled well, and was pretty damn fast in a straight line. But regardless of it's good features, I seemed to always look for a new car...M3, z06, GT500 (only 011 and up), etc. So I began my search...test drove everything but the c6 z06 (which was kinda ruled out bc of impracticality and two seats - amazing car nonetheless). I test drove the 2011 M3 with dct...great car. Loved it. Sounded good, fast as hell but man...75KKKK closed out loaded up. No way man. So then I looked at z06...for a 2010/2011 they were around 65k ish 2nd hand. Too much. So I drove the gt500. Sounded great, handles great, and gets a ton of looks. Plus, if you want more power just add a new blower...oh my - I was sold. Traded in my 135i (and got more than I payed for it actually) and bought a 2011 GT500 SVTPP with electronics pack for 10k under sticker with 3400 miles on it. Couldn't beat that. Even though I don't have 135i anymore, I find myself looking on these forums from time to time. Still love the 135i. Anyways, here are a few pics. Will be doing stripe delete this Friday! Few pics of the 135i as well. Last edited by SeanGee; 08-14-2011 at 11:23 PM.. |

Will do. I'll definitely be poking my head in from time to time. Love to see the new things done to the one. One of the best bangs for the buck on the market if you ask me...especially 2nd hand. Put a cobb AP and you have a 12s car (which I had on mine haha). SG |

Yea, I was looking up prices for new tires on my GT500 for 305s in the rear...looking at 350-450 a pop...so that's not far off. I stand corrected!! I did check tirerack.com and saw yours (thanks for the link)...also saw a few more expensive...such as PS2s. Now that's pretty close lol. SG |

Z06 rocks around a track. Takes a skillful driver i must say, compared to GTR for ex, but very awesome car. SG Last edited by SeanGee; 08-15-2011 at 01:03 AM.. |

Nice ride though you should have waited till shelby released the GT350, which will have the Supercharged 5.0 instead of the 5.4. It supposedly will put the power down better than the GT500 with 1/4 mile time at 12 flat @121mph. Have fun with her I almost made the same trade.
"Initial road tests of the 525HP by Motor Trend show impressive statistics. The 2011 Shelby GT350 hits 60 mph in 3.7 seconds.[35], compared to the 412 horsepower 2011 Mustang GT's time of 4.4 seconds.[35] The 2011 GT500 needs 4.2 seconds to get to 60 mph and even the Shelby Super Snake with 750 hp still takes 4.1 seconds. Weight difference isn't a factor to blame for the better performance than the GT500, considering the GT350 is only a mere 24 pounds lighter than the newly lightened GT500.[35] The GT350's quartermile time is 12 seconds flat at 121.4 mph. This means the 2011 Shelby GT350 is the fastest production Mustang in the Shelby history" |

I am a car enthusiast. Love the domestics, the imports, and of course some of the exotics. However, this being a 1addicts forums, I will have to concur with the previous post of suggesting that you should have just tuned the 135i.

Congrats enjoy the 'stang. Look great. I have gone back and forth between muscle cars and alternatives over the past 10 years and will likely go that route once again at some point...my alternative to the 135 vert was the Camaro SS vert.

Nice. The 5.4's are very easy to get huge power from. Nothing like the sound of an S/C at full scream.

OP, ignore the comments from those to recommend you should have done a tune on a 135, should have got the Gt350, should have done this, should have done that......
The GT500 is a fantastic car and dont let those who dont have a car that nearly matches up to it try to drag it down. The blown 5.4 in the car is a bulletproof plant that can take a ton more power if you choose down the road. Not to mention a stunningly good looking car. And will blow off a tuned 135 with relative ease in its bone stock form. enjoy the new ride. |

^^ This. I cannot for the life of me understand why people say "you should have got this or got that". The OP is showing pics of what has been done meaning his decision is already made.
I suppose he should return his awesome brand new car and get what other people think he should have got? Should've, would've and could've... my most hated words. /rant. |

After having two supercharged mustangs myself, I'd say you made the right decision. My 335i is tuned and it's fun and all, but it just doesnt' compare to the 570whp I had with my last Cobra. That insane torque is just too fun.
Congrats on the Cobra, looks great!! (I refuse to call that thing a Shelby...) |

Just stop with the should have tuned your 135i BS. When you tune the N54(and I'm not talking about N55 because it will never) with FBO you'll get to the stock GT500 level and you'll probably lose couple HPFPs and coils and injectors in the process. So Stop it because it's just getting old
Aren't you the guy with failed stock N55 after 400 miles? Nuff said
