I have this one now after buying it new in the summer of 2006 and cracked the crystal a little while ago

Once I get it back from Tag I'll be selling it and picking this up. The maroon looks amazing in person.

I've had the black version of that first tag for about 6 years now.

It doesn't keep amazing time even after being serviced 9 months ago but I still like it. I have a small wrist so the small face looks good on it.

Your saying acrylic crystal is better because its cheap and easy to replace or repair. I was making the comparison to someone saying the same thing about a hub cap vs custom wheel. I was making a light hearted rebuttal.

ahh i see,

acrylic is in many cases more authentic, more robust.. its deeper than simply cost. its not much different to manual vs automatic, mechanical vs digital.. the way acrylic scratches, the way you can polish it, its all a part of the romance between a man and his watch

sound mad to you? lol

The original rubber band on my F1 Grande Date broke, so I took the opportunity to upgrade a bit. Matches my carbon interior trim. Let me know what you think.

When I went to the beach for two weeks, I noticed that my Tag gained time over the course of the two weeks. It was the only watch I took with me, so I put it on and didn't take it off. I have a Submariner that does the same thing. I have an Omega quartz watch and it seems to stay spot on regardless of how long I continuously wear it. I have a few watches (Patek Calatrava, Muller Curvex, and Breguet Marine) that purportedly have high quality movements, but I don't ever wear any of them for more than 24 hours as they are my "occasion" watches, so I don't know if they gain or lose time. I do know they keep good enough time during the time I have them on.

Maybe the Rolex and Tag need to be serviced??? I'll admit I'm very lame about getting that done regularly.

As for what movements are actually in those watches, I don't know. I'm something of a watch guy, but for style reasons more so than movement reasons. Though I do try these days to buy watches for the quality of their construction and functionality, that wasn't always the case. For example, I bought a Tag watch because I'd forgotten my own watch at home and I was on a month long trip out of the country. I bought a couple of Citizen watches that same way, but on a trip to Ohio. I bought an Omega Constellation automatic some 15 years ago because I like the look of it.

I recently ordered a JLC Reverso for myself, again more for style than anything else. It remains to be seen how well it keeps time. I'm reasonably certain I'll wear it for extended time periods since it'll be new and not so dressy or flashy that I can't wear it for general use.

I have several watches that are Chinese knock offs of some of my more costly watches. They keep excellent time and I'm sure they have junk movements.

Quartz movements are generally more accurate than automatic movements. A Timex will keep better time than a Rolex in the long run, but most people buy watches likes Patek/Audemars, Rolex, Tag etc either as an enthusiast interested in the intricacies of the movement/watchmaking or to show off.

Even Kanye and Jay-Z know that the diamonds they put on their exorbently expensive watches cause the movement to slow and the watch to lose time haha.

I've never really had much love for TAG, but I would buy one of these, Monaco V4.

I'll throw some pics up, first is the old daily, I was too hard on it and ended up scratching the sapphire, it has since been retired from day to day use. Older pic, since then I had it tuned up, the sapphire replaced, which took 3 months since apparently the Swiss take the summer off and the case polished up at the same time.

Replaced it with this one, PVD coated titanium, takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

I create a thread about What Watches Are Most Liked. For all the flack I got about Tag not being a brand about which I asked, I would have thought this thread would be far longer than it is.

All the best.

Still wear the same Aquaracer 2000 (aka Oversized Fake Rolex Submariner) that I bought 10+ years ago. It's pretty well flogged and scratched now but still pretty solid.

Too lazy/cheap to buy anything else (besides G-shocks).
