F* SAKE Punture... Tyre advice needed and a cuddle.
Jesus!
Can you just replace one or do you need to them all? I have the P Zero 20 inch 245 / 45 20s ? Or is this the excuse I need to get nice new silent no noise non runflats? |

Depends how worn they are. We don’t like to have more than a 2mm difference across axles, otherwise the car brakes differently. Also on 4 wheel drive, we have always been told not to have more than a 2mm difference across the same axle and more than 3mm front to back, otherwise it puts more strain on the system.
This is based primarily on the VW group 4 wheel drive systems, from Mastertech’s, but not tested this with our BMW techs yet, but should be able to get a response from BMW UK if I ask officially.

Thanks mate... just wanted a check in before seeing the tyre fitters.
Gutted it seems one cannot just purchase one... and the tyres have only done 23k so to me they are v new.. yes its a 740d xd Right so the 69db refers to new as tested got it. Still dispels the notion that non run flats are quieter |

I hit a pothole the very day I picked my car up and put a nasty bulge in the tyre, I had 6mm all round so they only needed to fit one tyre although any less and they would have recommended two, Lloyd Colne is my servicing dealer.

Are the tyre compounds different in the US? I’d be OK with a total life of 23k miles, especially on the rear. We had a Boxster until recently and due to the Porsche specific soft compound, we only got past 10k miles with one set of rears.

No, I think OP is UK based, so same as you and I.
I too would be delighted with that sort of mileage, although have no prior experience with Bridgestone RoF, although I now have 3,500 miles on the clock and they are still at 8mm. My last A8L used to get just about 18k miles to a set of 4, but I used the Goodyear Eagle F1 SCT, bit softer compound, but very quiet and with the SCT option, 3db quieter inside than the previous non-SCT version of the same, but as they were soft, they were also poor on fuel. I found Michelin Pilot Sport very noisy, and poor on fuel, but lasted ages (unfortunately), and Pirelli PZero not too bad on noise, but good on fuel, however I wanted a quiet car and stuck with the Goodyear Eagle F1 SCT.

I would have thought we'd easily get that from a set, I have Potenzas on my 7 and they lasted quite a while on my previous 5 series.
