Agreed the new grill looks out of proportion to the front end...I get the design language across the brand but this looks a bit odd....hmm

Audi and Mercedes have adopted fake exhausts. What bothers me is that BMW has adopted fake grills... A good 1/4 top of the grill is just there and blocked off just for "looks." Makes it even more lame just looking at it.

All manufacturers are in that bandwagon... Get used to it.

After all you have to find a place for all those sensors and sonars...

It was a joke... the front end with that huge grill just looks ugly to me.

I never seen that Lexus or Toyota here in Europe. Maybe you are already used to huge grills, but I'm not.

The front 3/4 view actually looks very good.
Everyone is going to get used to this look eventually.

What I want to know is when it comes time for the full redesign, what will they do? This car already has all the elements of the new design language. So either they will keep it tame and people will cry foul or they will go even more dramatic and people will cry foul.

In my opinion, BMWs flagship is in a tough situation in regards to timing and roll-out.

I like the lower valences, I like the rear end but the front grill make take some time. Hopefully in person it looks better than the X5. Love the HP bump.

Overall it's a nice update. The large grills will take some getting used to only because it is out of character for the 7 series and more inline with something like the S class. But otherwise a nice update

Nooooooo!!!!! My worst fear, the god damned connected tail lights! Why is this a trend?

Fking FCA started this, then Porsche, Lincoln, Audi, Kia, Lexus... and now BMW. We used to be trend setters, man.

I think it actually looks quite nice. I prefer the pre LCI tail lights, it just looks better to me and more BMW like. The new ones are kinda boring looking and still not more modern, although it's supposed to be the newer version. But definitely not as bad as the tail lights of the new 3 series and X4.

Honestly, who in the hell is designing these things. It's like having 5 head chefs fighting over creation of a new menu it's heinous and scatterbrained. And that grille ... is that a jet engine intake? Don't hit any dogs or small children cause they'll be chopped up by ur radiator fan, jeez

I'd say save the huge grills for the SAV segment where the proportions work better...gee whiz

Well the Merc's interpretation of "classy and restrained" sells, the Bimmer's does not!

Much like the F30 was the forgotten generation of 3-series, the G11 will be the forgotten 7-series. Both were half-assed efforts by BMW that got panned by the press.

Not sure why every German car maker is following Lincoln for tail light strip ( Porsche, Audi and now BMW).
