The search is over. Finally bought my next car...B7
After a 12 month odyssey involving more research, test drives and consternation than imaginable, I bought my next car today. 2018 Alpina B7. Certified. 3,543 miles. Loaded with everything I needed. 21” Alpina wheels. Not a single rock chip and nobody ever sat in the back seat. And the best part is the color. BMW Individual Fashion Grey with mocha interior. One of only two in the US in this color, and only 3 in the world. I’m over the moon excited.
More pics when I get her, probably within a week or so. Last edited by Lawguy; 09-21-2020 at 09:31 PM.. |

Gorgeous color and vehicle! Cheers. This is one car I would definitely look back at it when I park. That is the baseline qualification for vehicle purchases.

I picked her up yesterday at Motorwerks in Barrington (Chicago). I was anxious arriving and hopeful I would like the Fashion Grey, having never seen it in person. Suffice, the car did not disappoint. 2018 B7 with 3,500 miles. Certified. What a car. 5 hour trip home, but didn’t push much because it was raining and wet and didn’t feel comfortable with it’s limits - and my 15 year old son was with me.
Initial impressions: more luxurious than I had expected, the power is intoxicating but it’s a very subtle car. I’m excited. More thoughts after a few days of wheel time. Last edited by Lawguy; 10-04-2020 at 09:20 AM.. |

The other interesting story is that apparently, Jennifer Aniston wanted to buy the car when it arrived at the dealer in Calabasas, California, but it was already purchased, and she couldn’t get the original owner to let her have it. Funny little tidbit. I’m in absolute heaven. |

Thanks for sharing. That car is seriously gorgeous! Someone essentially paid 65k to drive the car 3000 miles. That's insane!
I think you got one heck of a deal and gives me a starting point in my search. If you get bored with the car in the next month, hit me up and I'll gladly buy her from you. hahah |

Good lord, I love this car. Used to think my 2007 e63 would never be topped, but this car is even better. Far better, in fact. Love looking at it in store windows as I drive by, and find myself taking photos of it in parking lots as I walk up to it. Haha. Best decision ever.

Stunning car, thanks for sharing the pictures and story, great to hear you are loving it.
The colours are beautiful and unique which suits the individual nature of these lovely beasts so well. Hoping one day to also own a B7, great to hear yours has lived up to your expectations. Safe travels.

Amazing inventory of cars and brands. Very upscale place. I liked the sales guy. Downside was it took 3 hours, and they forgot to tell me I needed to have a valid insurance card issued for the car before I could take it which was an epic pain in the ass to accomplish on the fly late on a Saturday afternoon. But otherwise, I would buy from them again. |

That must have been a real pain with the insurance card - Not something that usually happens. |

I’ve bought a number of cars out of town (I’m in Louisville, Ky area) and have travelled to get them. Never had anyone tell me that I needed to have a policy/card for the specific car I was purchasing to leave the lot. I’ve always simply shown them my policy for all my other cars to which it would be added. And as a matter of law, you have 30 days to add it here, during which time it’s covered anyhow. Fortunately, I know my agent well, rang his cell phone and he was able to get it done from his home and email it to me while I was sitting there. If it hadnt worked, my review would be very different. |

Had a service done on the car yesterday at BMW. When I showed up to get it, it was inside and had been detailed. There was a group of people standing and looking at it.
I had been working with the local dealer on pricing for a new B7 but they really weren’t that interested. The manager came over and feigned surprise I had gone ahead and bought one elsewhere. When he saw it, he said he understood why. Damn, I love this car. ... |
