Trade in Value?
Thinking about trading in the 325 for a 330. Any idea what to expect for trade in value. Car has approx 1139 miles on it. Only problem is it was in an accident 3 weeks ago with about 8k worth of damage. It was fully repaired by the certified body shop. How much do you think that will affect the trade in?

I really don't know how accidents affect resale, I figure if it's fixed and you have receipts to prove it things should be fine, but I could be wrong. Have you thought about selling it yourself, you'd probably make out a little better than a trade.

Would you want to buy a car with $8,000 of previous damage? I know I wouldn't unless there was a significant reduction in price from what other cars are being sold at that have not been in an accident.

Google "diminished value." Even if it's disclaimed by your insurance policy, you can often still recover from your insurance company because there are areas in which the car can't be made whole again, even with "perfect" bodywork. Find an independent diminished value appraiser who can inspect the car for a nominal fee.

On top of that, I wouldn't trade anyway.... The dealer is going to rape you... Take the time to sell it on your own, it's not that much of a hassle and you will make an extra couple of grand.

Still waiting to see what happens with the repairs. Looks like there was no frame damage after all. They tore apart the front end and put it on the frame machine and did the laser measurement. Still waiting on the OEM parts that are backordered. Hopefully not too much longer as I am going crazy driving this POS cavalier. Probably not going to trade it in now. And debating on whether or not I want to keep it. My main concern was with the frame having to be repaired. Apparently the shop it is at is very highly recommended.
eshamas21 - if I decide to sell it I will PM you with a price. |

Check out www.kbb.com (Kelly Blue Book) then I'd subtract $4,000 off the price. Plus explain and show repairs to the possible buyer. You may have to eat the total $8,000 just to sell it. Would YOU want to by a car with this kind of damage? You might be better off to keep it !
