Android Auto Install
Just wanted to show some pics...
This was a pretty easy install, just some patience removing the trim. Definitely take it easy removing the clips from any cables you are disconnecting, they can break easily. Everything was indeed plug and play and came up right away. Hardest part was tucking the extra harness cables back behind the brain. Working great, great upgrade from stock. Hi!
Got a couple questions for you glad you posted this! I am currently also in the market to do this install. Do you experience/notice a loss in audio quality with the new interface? Hows the touch screens feedback? Glare when driving during the day? Does the 12.3" screen seem too large in person? Which unit did you purchase, there are a ton of different options out there... Different ECU's, RAM and storgae as well as Android 11 or 12. Btw, I'm living in Bham, AL and not too far from you! bought my 750 in Atlanta 2021 Appreciate your feedback! Jan |

Never got a notice for this post... Sorry for delay
Audio Quality = I have the Harmon Kardon setup in my 7 and it sounds great. I will say, when I go into EQ settings in the interface and select anything other than flat, it seems to boost it a lot. I get the sense it has my native sound settings where I left them (custom) and then on top of that tries to adjust it based off the screen settings. For this reason i leave it on flat. I bought the PEMP version which apparently does not have glare - I confirm this. There are Brightness/Contrast settings in the screen if you need to play with these. I left them as is. 12.3 Inches, seems like its stock... In fact, with all these newer models out there... Mine has the built in dvd changer... Im hoping if they can come up with something to remove the DVD changer, and insert another screen for passenger side like the newer cars. Another note... there is no way to integrate my rear stock entertainment screens with the new Android one from PEMP. Searching forms, someone else mentioned they had a different version that allowed for HDMI hook up.... I assume with that, we technically can convert the HDMI to old school audio/video cable (red, yellow, white) and have them mirror the input. Overall vs Stock setup it gives me what i wanted... Android auto which i did not have prior. With the radio in stock form, all I ever used was the BT to stream with no screen option. |
