Can't tell if serious. If serious, logout and go to clublexus.com... They'd LOVE to talk reliability with you all day long.

No LCI for X5 F15. Replacement will be here in 2018 after only 5 years.

If they put that engine in the 3 or 4 series... WUUUHUUUHUUW.
Check this RS5 TDI concept with a beastly V6 diesel as well.

It come in a 6 cylinder configuration but I was just poking fun in the first place. I'm sure the newly announced BMW engine is powerful and amazing, but when you call something MOST powerful then some nit picker like me is going to call BS. It's just marketing I know. Sorta like ultimate driving machine. While BMWs are nice and I generally rave about them, ultimate is probably challengable

Back to the OP, looks like a really powerful, well designed engine. Let's hope it makes it to US models.

Typical truck and bus diesel engines are inline 6 cylinder and have around 500 hp plus over 1000 lb-ft of torque from 11 liters.

Eh? Well then they shouldn't say things like "The world’s most powerful six-cylinder diesel engine is making its debut in the BMW 750d xDrive and BMW 750Ld xDrive".

Unless BMW became the only maker of diesel engines while I was napping

To be fair this engine rarely run on diesel mostly on heavy fuel oil.

anyone know how much power it would be making if it wasn't limited by BMW's choice of transmission? ZF makes 8-speed units that can handle more torque, it's a shame BMW didn't choose to use one of those so they could really show off the new engine specs. I assume they had reasons beyond just cutting costs. At least I hope they did.

I seriously doubt that this engine will make it to the US. We don't even have a proper 535d... One can dream though.

I can't remember the last time I ever read a press release for a new car/engine that mentioned those words, much less highlighted them. If 3 turbos wasn't trouble for them in early 2012, I'm willing to bet they spent at least some of the 4.5 years since then ironing out any kinks

World's Most Powerful Six-Cylinder Diesel

???

Maybe worlds most powerful straight six! Audi's new SQ7 TDi beats these figures... and I'm no Audi fan boy(!) but Audi's V6 has BMW beat in these power figures numbers.

"SQ7 TDI comes with 429 horsepower and 663 lb-ft"... two turbos plus one electric compressor!!

Dackel I think you didn't saw that the Audi with 435HP is actually a 4.0- liter V-8 engine with the name SQ7 TDI's
And the big difference between the 3 liter and the 4 liter version is the little 's
The 3.0-liter V-6 => 333HP
The 4.0-liter V-8 => 435HP

The point sygazelle makes is correct - there are actually plenty more 6 cylinder diesels that are more powerful (e.g. The M43 in the link is available as a 6cyl - http://www.cat.com/en_GB/products/pr...47468&type=new ) it's a silly headline
