G11 730d xdrive - pedestrian protection system problem

Hi Guys,

I had a new parking sensor for the front bumper installed and since doing so it comes up with error for pedestrian protection system.

Has anyone encountered this? Does it need to be programmed?

Grateful for any help and suggestions.

Best wishes

Gaff

Take it back to who installed the PDC sensor and have them check it. They either forgot to connect the pedestrian collision detection wire for front bumper, or they didn't handle it delicately and broke it altogether.

Hi Raimo,

Thanks for the reply and advice.

Do you think they broke the parking sensor or the pedestrian protection crash wire, I believe it is a blue one?

Thanks again

There can be few different things that can go wrong with it if front bumper is removed and not carefully enough handled. First, there are two sensors on each end of pressure tube. These sensors might be unplugged or damaged. Pressure tube itself can also be damaged or kinked and pressed between something. It has to be visually checked to confirm and if nothing pops out, do electronic diagnosis. You didn't have pedestrian protection system issues before PDC sensor replacement, right? If no, then this is most likely caused by recent repairs in vicinity of those systems.

Other components that might trigger this error are bonnet pyro struts, but I dont think that these are the issue. First course of action would be to check the area that was last worked on, which coincides with detection cable location. It is part nr. 4 on this chart.
