CarPlay addition and questions...

I changed my phone from Samsung to iPhone, since apparently Samsung won't sell me a 512GB one without a folding crease in it and they discontinued the Note line. But so far I'm happy with the iPhone 13 Pro Max and I purchased the $300 CarPlay via the connected drive store.

Likes: size, build quality, CarPlay, integration with MacBook

Dislikes: No stylus, Rigid interface, fewer apps, poorer sound quality (no LDAC), and the damn notch.

I have been enjoying the carplay functionality the most, especially Waze and Siri.

A few of questions tho,

1) I suppose I can't get a full screen CarPlay, and it will always show the split screen, is this right?

2) There is no way to mirror screen like I could with the Samsung, play Youtube, Netflix etc?

3) There is quite a lot of mismatch in speed limit info and traffic and GPS. Which is more accurate, Waze or iDrive???

Hope some of you CarPlay veterans can help me out.

You can get Carplay fullscreen just not through BMW.

You can play youtube via Carplay only if you jailbrake your Iphone.

Thanks for the answers! I'm unlikely to do any mods, so I guess I'll keep it status quo. I only play videos for kids when we are parked, I guess I'll just keep my old Samsung in the glove box for that unique purpose!

Aah, well I talked to them anyway and confirmed. She actually said free from 2020 LCI. Worth a shot anyway

I think you still have to buy it as a one time charge, but they abolished the annual charge after year 3.

FS ACP can be activated by FSC mod using E-net-OBD cable/laptop, provided your iD software is 3/2018 or later.

If all you want is to turn on FS, go to Bimmerfest (https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/c...-free.1392295/) and PM babyk generously activates BOTH ACP and FS FOR FREE. Just join the forum and PM him.

Alternatively, you can join Bimmerscene.com, donate $15 to the forum, and Rob the administrator would provide you the FSC for LIFETIME NAV map update, Fullscreen ACP, video-in-motion, etc.
