What are the top five vehicles you've owned?
I always enjoy hearing about other car people's automotive journey. Let's share our top 5 rides so far. The ones that really fueled your passion for cars.
Here's mine (in chronological order) 1985 Dodge Omni GLH After driving tercels and corollas, this was my gateway drug into performance cars. It was a quick little car with a torquey 2.2 and a 5 speed. I could light up the tires pretty easily and pull away from most cars at the time at stoplights. I was pretty happy with it until that 300zx turbo blew its doors off and I knew there was more to be had 1989 Mustang LX 5.0 Trunk This car remains to this day one of the fastest cars I've ever had. It was a custom black 5 speed manual with lowering springs, engine mods, exhaust and 3:73 gears. It had instant immense torque (this is where my addiction to torque began ) and sounded great. The lack of strong brakes almost killed me and the rough ride began to wear on me a bit so I started looking for something more refined. 1990 300ZX. I saw this car in my girlfriend at the time's neighbourhood. It was a custom deep purple, with an f40 wing, debadged and huge (at the time) 18 inch concave and staggered wheels. I followed it home a couple times. About a month later it showed up in the autotrader and I snatched it up. It was my first taste of a refined sports car with a wonderfully smooth v6, a nice manual trans and great handling. It looked amazing in its time (I was driving it in the mid 90's) and people asked me about it all the time. I kept it a while and only sold it when it was getting a little long in the tooth. 2007 BMW Z4 Coupe 3.0SI When the concept of this car came out in 2005, I was in love immediately with its looks and when I first tasted its silky smooth n52 and well sorted manual 6 speed, I was hooked. It took me until 2009 to find a CPO example here in the great white north (as this car was not sold here) in titanium silver on black, but I absolutely loved this car. It has the honour of being the car I have owned the longest (about 4 years). I still miss the connection I had with that car, it just fit me in a way no other car has. I think there will be another one in my future at some point. 2014 Porsche Cayman S While I suffer from carswitchitis, I loved the Z4 coupe, I really struggled with finding a replacement. I always admired porsches through the years and when the 981 concept came out, I was intrigued (I was never a big fan of the 987's styling and 911's were outside my budget). My first test drive of a 981 was of a boxster S with pdk and summer tires in 6 degrees celsius...and I was absolutely blown away by it. I ordered my 981 cayman S soon after. In terms of driving experience, this is definitely my fave car to date. I lusted after driving that car all the time, went for joy rides again for the first time since I was a teenager, always took the longer way. The car was just such a joy to drive, sounded amazing, handled at another level, the manual was the best I had ever had. The first 6 months with that car were epic. Ok your turn Last edited by baege; 10-24-2018 at 06:13 AM.. |

Porsche 964 Turbo S Leichtbau
My dad had one, first car to get over 300 km/h on the dial 😁 Bugatti EB110 My best friend bought it new (was his 9th Bugatti by then) A spaceship at his time with 4 turbo chargers but I hate the interior with the burl wood trims. Gumpert Apollo S Is that beast fast and difficult to drive at the Limit. 🤪 Gumpert Apollo Enraged Even faster than the S and mean looking. Bugatti Type 35 C Never ever again I was that afraid in a car as in this famous racer during Mille Miglia, loud, hot open historic Grand Prix race car 😳😱 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder This sound!! The sound thru tunnels in the Italian Alps - goosebumps Ferrari 599 GTB The perfect GT, fast, good looking, comfortable. A real gentlemans GT. The Minardi M192 with Lamborghini V12 Starting and Driving a Formular 1 car on an open factory site with your friends for fun - priceless! |

Also in no order:
1. Porsche 996 GT3 - Perhaps my most favorite car that I've owned. Should have never sold it. 2. 2012 Toyota 4Runner Trail Edition (with mods & 33's) - Great daily and road trip vehicle. Recently rented a new, 2018 for 2 weeks and fell back in love (except for brakes). 3. 2008 Ferrari Scuderia - Great dream car. Not a dream as far as dealer and service experiences go. If you have one, you need +1 to be anyone in the Ferrari system. 4. & 5. - 2001 and 2010 Toyota Tacoma DoubleCab Pickup Trucks - Both were dependable and covered a lot of use cases. Plenty of others (Raptor, Pathfinder, Mazda B2600 Pickup, VW GTI VR6, E46 M3 ZCP, current M2, 2014 M4, Cayman S, Mustangs, Camaro's, etc. etc.). |

Of 33 cars, these have been my most memorable...
1. 1955 Porsche Speedster 1500S, 5;400 orig. mi., 100% unrestored & flawless 2. 1965 Porsche C Cabriolet, scored 99 pts. at Hillsboro Concours 3. 1957 BMW Isetta, restored, my anti-materialistic daily driver for years 4. 2000 Miata SE, possibly my favorite daily driver of all 5. 1971 Super Beetle, bought new at 16, my first and most-loved car

In no particular order:
• 2016 BMW M3 - I feel like this is the perfect all around car. Fast, 4 door, comfortable, and aggressively styled. • 2015 BMW i3 REx - The perfect commuter. Saves me on gas, gets me to work faster (carpool), torquey, nimble, a pleasure to sit in (Giga World), very comfortable, I love the adaptive cruise, RWD, and doesn't look like a vanilla car. It's polarizing, but that's part of the appeal. • MKII VW GTI - More nostalgia than anything. My first "sporty" car. My first manual. Definitely German with all the good and bad that comes with it. • Audi S4 25Quattro - 1 of 250 in the US. The DTM bumpers, CF front and rear spoilers, red tow hook (all stock), exclusive color and limited production made it much more special than an average B7 S4. My first 6 speed, my first V8, it sounded great. I loved it! • 2018 Subaru Forrester - I currently have 4 cars. This one isn't the nicest. It's not the fastest, it's not the most luxurious. It doesn't get any attention. It's a CVT. But it's completely loaded, all the boxes are checked except the turbo engine that everyone loves and it's still one of the best cars I've owned. We've had 3 Foresters already and unless the Ascent can convince me the size is worth it, I think we well have a Forester in our garage until we die. It's cheap, it's reliable, it's AWD and with Eyesight, it's the perfect roadtrip car, and I love roadtrips. We take it camping, hiking, some offroading etc. One of the best parts is that it's not a fancy X3, X5, or Porsche Cayanne. So we can take it anywhere and not worry about it. It's dirty most of the time, there's mud on it during rainy seasons, my kid makes a mess in there and it's all good! Our last 2 Foresters:

1- it was my first car too, 1977 Rabbit. Drove it cross country and fell in love with it on the tank trails on base. Could take 5 into town and still move pretty good. It could also outrun the SP's next door in their Ford Fairmonts.
2- the MGB. It was a perfect LA and Texas car in my early 20's. 3- the Alfa GTV. It was an RV for me during my bike racing days. Room in the back and the roof rack over the hatch and it could still hit 120. 4-2000 4Runner SR5 w/MT. still have it. Does everything. 5... maybe the E92? I've only had it a month.

1/2. My first M3 e46! Manual in titansilver and my current M3 e46 manual in Steel grey. Imagine the titansilver m3 in steelgrey but with trashy black kidneygrilles.
3. Our Volvo 2016 V40 t5 carbon edition. You dont get these in USA, Golf gtiish with incredible seats, decent engine and a lovley interior. Girlfriend drives it the most today. 4. Probably my first car, a 2004 Volvo S60R in titanium grey. Amaaaazing car for the money. Garbage automatic gearbox. 5. 2018 manual BMW M2. Ordered this new, waited 9 months and could not enjoy it, mostly since we moved so I didnt need a car to drive to work, and it depreciated way too fast even if I didnt use it. Did not love the manual aswell. 6. 2007 saab 93 2.8t aero. Coooomfy but not fun to drive. Miss it alot tho. Last edited by Isty; 10-24-2018 at 03:10 PM.. |

1) 2011 BMW 1M. Fun package that makes me feel young as well as encapsulating the essence of BMW M.
2) 2009 Ariel Atom 3 Supercharged. Best track car hands down for its insane cornering speeds, weight, as well as low running costs. 3) 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. Best all rounder and can do everything you want it to on the same set of tires. Best bang for the buck SUV. 4) 2000 BMW Z3 M Coupe. Classic 5) 2019 BMW M2C. ED 6 countries, The Ring, V-max autobahn. Couldn't have asked for a better ED car. |

2001 Mustang Cobra-first manual car. Bought on a saturday, learned to drive stick on that sunday, and drove to work on monday. Fun car and sounded awesome with the exhaust system I had. Some of my most fondest memories are with this car. I always think about it.
2002 Cadillac Escalade EXT-I swear to God, when I got this thing I had people honking and waving at me. No exaggeration. It was the first of its kind and stuck out. I felt like a celebrity in it. Everywhere I went, people would compliment me. Also, some of my most fondest memories are with this car. Still miss it. Owned it at the same time as my Cobra. Fun times. 2006 Corvette coupe- My first vette. I always wanted one. Traded the Cobra for it. 2007 Corvette Z06- OMG, what a car. Amazing car. So fast, handled so well and sounded amazing. Looked fast just sitting there. Another car I miss. 2011 BMW E93 M3-First M3, first convertible. DCT. It was in my favorite color of that generation, Melbourne red. Good looking car. Pretty quick. Sounded great. Very fun to drive with the top down. Wouldnt mind another M3 of that generation. Honorable mention-My current car-2012 Ford SVT Raptor-Traded the Z06 for it. First real pickup. Good looking truck that has awesome road presence. Handles well for a pickup. V8 sounds awesome. Get looks and stares all the time. People love it. I Love this truck and will not part with it. |

1984 Honda Accord - Bought the car in High School and lasted throughout college. It was the most reliable car I've ever owned, literally bullet proof. Sold it with 275K miles and still ran like a champ.
1978 Trans Am- Looked faster than it was but the 6.6 litre sounded amazing. The eagle on the hood and my mullet went very well together. 1972 240Z- Just a classic reliable sports car, loved it. 2006 M3- The last of the true M cars imo. It had a manual 6spd with true hydraulic steering, the car handled like it was on rails. 1968 Camaro SS- My dream car and current garage queen. Enough said... |
