Rear shade.
I know they made the sunshade like this because they offer a 31 inch theater TV option for the rear of the car and want to reduce glare, but I honestly don’t see how this thing is legal. I literally can’t see a damn thing through the back window when the sunshade is closed. It’ll be fun to raise the shade the next time a truck with its brights on pulls up behind me though.

I agree. Sometimes I look in the rear mirror and think maybe someone is REALLY close behind me and that's why I can't see anything but then realize the shades are up. It gets some getting used to, but yea it's almost like a blackout.

I just found out there’s no legal requirement to be able to see through the rear window. Still feels weird not being able to see anything when you look up at the rear view mirror. I kind of wish it was one of those mirrors with a view screen that shows a display from the rear camera.

They should have put a “smart” rear view mirror in the 7 series. The Infiniti qx60 has this tech - the mirror turns to a screen that is fed by an extra camera mounted in the rear window. It’s pretty cool!

It’s awful! And dangerous. I had a 5 series and an 8 series with a rear shade you could see thru. Much better. I won’t even put the rear shade up. Bmw should either program a digital rear view via the augmented view or use the rear cameras for viewing This is an accident waiting to happen
