iDrive Update?

Is there an update for Maps in iDrive? I was told I will be getting 4/year but the last one was in December '19.

Do you mean Maps? Maps newest version is 2019/4

As mentioned above. The latest map is 2019/4

As you are in the UK like me you should see this on your iDrive. The original map and then the patch that is applied.

If you want the full 2019/4 Euro map you will need to go on to your connected drive account and download it to a USB.

Via USB or in the car? This is all I see when looking at my account. Not been in the car yet to check that.

***Edit*** - Just noticed you have a LCI. That will be why as mine is pre-LCI.

I first go to the BMW Connected Drive Customer portal.

Then go to map updates.

Check where it says automatic (I believe these are sent to the car automatically) and manual (where you download the large new map updates using BMW Download Manager and download stragiht onto your USB disk)

Yesterday in the manual update section, it said new map update available :

Road Map EUROPE Live 2020-1. I currently have 2019-4.

Taking ages ...

I'd assume that the same update is available for pre LCI too surely ?


***EDIT : Sorry, it looks like you know exactly where to go and check for updates ! So which version do you have currently in the car ? It must be older than the 2019-4 if Connected Drive is suggesting 2019-4 is the latest for you ??

Look at the post above your first one. That is my iDrive.

So Road Map EUROPE EVO 2019-3 with the 2019-4 GB & IE update.

It is indeed. I got the prompt to install the latest update yesterday. So now my Auto Update reads GB, IE 2020-1

1st update for 2020 will be released within the next week or so. This is what BMW Uk told today.

Looks great. Thanks. Almost got that model too but I do not need LWB and then the 2 rear screens are a bit funny. Had similar in a S500 w221 and never liked them. They attract dust like hell .
I went for 740xd M and so far I love it.

But what's the situation with the Road Map. Is there not a more recent version than your 2019-3 ? I believe you showed us EVO 2019-4 was available for manual update via Connected drive.

Or are you simply waiting for the EVO 2020-1 and then download and install it ?

The car retains the original map and just patches the updates. It initially said 2018. However BMW sent me a USB which fubar'd the iDrive. I had to leave it with a dealer for them to refresh the whole iDrive.

Once 2020 is out I may download the complete thing to USB. But will see how things go as not noticed any issues as yet.

Thanks as well. I do like quite a lot myself. Will trade it in for an equivalent spec LCI at some point in a few years

There's no guarantee as they say 'up to 4 times a year'.

So they could in theory only do one or two updates.

But hopefully one will release soon. I'd guess, like most things, it will have been delayed due to COVID.

Does any one know if there is a difference in maps between models ?? I ask because I received a over the air update about two weeks ago in my F15 and it was 2020-3 but haven't received one in either of my 16 or my18 G12'S yet

Have you still got connectivity active for map updates on the G12's?

Mine has run out but as the rest of the connected drive services are still active until Nov. I'm going to wait and pay for all the services at once. That way their won't be any overlap.

BMW explained it to me that map updates are 3yrs but other connected drive services can be 3yrs and 3mths from the car being new.
