LEAKED: next generation Mercedes S-Class

I was browsing social media and noticed that someone posted the leaked images of the next generation Mercedes Benz S-Class. What are your guys' thoughts on this car? I personally don't know how I feel about it. The drivers side air vents remind me of a toaster and the huge screen in the center looks extremely close to that of a Tesla, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but just seems kind of unimaginative on the part of Mercedes.

I will reserve judgment until I sit in the actual car in 6 months, but this looks terrible.

That's the ugliest S-Class Interior I've ever seen!

How about that small front grill!

It is a radical departure from current, and had it not been for the Merc badge on the steering wheel, I would probably have guessed a new flagship Hyundai Genesis or something like that, as the rear is totally void of any family resemblance. But as always, need to see in the flesh before the like or dislike.

I am pretty sure it will be a show stopper as always once final production drops.
With the AMG variant as desirable as ever.
I will say that the current AMG and DESIGNO interiors are best in class and lovely IMO.

I see they're following BMWs lead with the gaping grille and narrow headlights.

That's a ginormous head-up display, but sure is ungainly to look at.

Nah... They are following their own designs from recent Benzes.

The heads-up display must do some pretty cool things, its HUGE!

Even though I love my 7 series, I must say, the Merc S class has always been the benchmark. It’ll be a show stopper when released. My 7 series had more gadgets when I bought it, thats why I chose it over the S class. When the S class gets more gadgets, I’ll probably swap to the Merc (and when I save up enough $$$)

My argument to that is it was the benchmark because of its status and image of luxury which all previous S Class' had in spades for their time. This S Class does not exude that to me - it's more of a technology fest and feel like it won't age well at all. The W222 is going to age well and still looks good even towards the end of its lifecycle.

The current S will be hard to beat, still looks very new.

Exacactly. I fully expect the new S Class to be class leading. It's what they do.

Looks... okay. Rather boring. Taillights look Hyundai-ish, not even Genesis, but mass-market looking. Maybe they look fancier when lit. I like its looks better G12 LCI, but I don't think it looks as good as G12 pre-LCI. 2020 Genesis G90 has a more interesting exterior than this. Interior looks rather spartan, Tesla-like. I don't mind that, if the screens look cool.

I wasn't a big fan of the W222 though. I think W221 was by far the best looking S in recent times.

Meh, doesn’t look special. I’ve strongly disliked Mercedes vehicles in the past decade, this supports those feelings

I still own a W140 back from the days. And I remember vividly why I passed on the last three generations of the S-class. Looks like I'll pass on this one as well.

Eh....honestly, that looks like shit. Obviously, have to wait to see it in person....but I don't see how that's going to look flattering in person.

Mercedes' last 2 S class generations has been great. I agree the 2014 generation is still gorgeous and still looks new. That being said, that means they have kind of hit that plateau where they really only can go down from here. It's hard to keep living up to designing great S classes like they have with the last two.

I just think Mercedes in general is kind of meh right now in most of their designs. Not much interests me from them unless it's a AMG GT 4-Door.....and even the low-end variants of that look kind of basic. Kind of what happened with Audi in the last 10 years....a lot of their models were red hot...but the downside was you could only really go down from there design-wise. Now all of Audi's models are boring as hell......

Honestly, the exterior is the worst part of the car. There's no sense of proportion, class or elegance which are absolutely fundamental traits of "S-Class". The front is simply ugly and the rear vile. As for the interior, it seems that they tried to pull an Audi and completely failed. Doesn't look like a car worth 6 figures, that's for sure. The only great thing they carried over is the seats. Otherwise, this car just doesn't win me over personally. I don't know what they were thinking. This car makes me tolerate the facelifted G11.
