Wait, a twin turbo V12 is fast in a straight line?! Too bad it sounds like a hot mess when asked to turn or validate that goofy M badge glued to it.

Interesting that the Tesla had the worst start. That has to be driver error. The power delivery is instant.
The Audi did sound freaking awesome. BMW pulled an 11.3 second quarter mile for such a heavy car. Not bad.

V12 > V8 in a straight line? Shocking. 760 still a beast though.
And what?s up with the Model S start?

To hell with Tesla. There is no soul in that car: no engine breathing in air that you can feel connected to, no transmission that allows you to actually feel the slightest gear shift with a little brap, no raw exhaust note that announces the arrival of speed to your senses. I guess I am old school in a way.
You want a crazy fast sedan with no character, go get one. I will take ICE engines as long as I can have them. And this is coming from someone who has frequently driven a P90D with Ludicrous mode. |

I wonder what the curb weight is on each model? The 7 held its own given it?s the largest car in the group, but I wonder what the weight differential is. Would?ve been a better roll race if each car was in manual mode and ready to go. Since the Tesla is always ready to go it would be a bit more fair that way.

If BMW was to put in an electric motor with 200hp/ lb ft to assist during the low band of the engine before majority of the torque/ hp kick in, it would probably get very close to P100D numbers. I would love to see that in the upcoming M8 ( Wishful thinking. Hey a man can dream, right?) This kind of hybrid technology has been available for a long time but restricted to hypercars to maintain exclusivity. BMW also does it in their e models but it is at the expense of power from the ICE to aid EPA numbers. If mpg was not the ultimate decider and BMW unleashed an electric motor with even a full TT V8, we would have a monster.
Sadly, when this does come to mainstream German brand models, I feel Mercedes is going to implement this first. |

That's what I was thinking too. Must be driver error or giving a handicap. Hmmmm
