But I think you took my original post which you quoted too personally. I wasn't calling you out as an individual I was merely commenting on the attitudes I have seen displayed in this thread, that of which appear to be more hate/anger coming from non-M owners rather than the other way around.

Now go enjoy your lowly non-M car while I enjoy my real M3

Is this what kids are like nowadays? Sit down? When I just complemented both cars?! Now that's funny. I've owned 2 M3's, 2 M5's, and have had seat time in every other M model. I've also had significant seat time in the M340i, which is a beast.

I'm sure you think you know everything about me, but you're acting foolish in trying to argue something that I wasn't even arguing or disputing in the first place.

And yeah I put brembos, tune, stickier tires on my M3 because like many enthusiasts we always want more from our cars. LMFAO we have nothing to prove. I just love cars.

I didn't see where you complemented both cars. I did notice how you stated both cars were "night and day difference" which is absolutely not the case, and that you mentioned BMW diluting the "M" brand which is the essence of this whole thread; M fan boys feeling that their car is diluted with the M brand being over saturated.

My point all along is that "YES" BMW is diluting M as a whole with all these M ADD-ON packages and trims you can add to a 540i for example (which they need to get rid of) HOWEVER an M340i, X340i, M550i, X6 M50... is a separate class that are built from the ground up and absolutely beasts of cars worthy of the M moniker performance wise and I don't think people —especially you would think M aficionados such as yourself— realize that. Give me an M550i any day!

I have owned a lot of M cars and have no problem with this. I didn't buy my cars for the badge. I bought them for the upgrades the regular versions can't get (leather upgrade, seats, engine, transmission, exhaust, suspension, brakes...). Many of them I have owned the base version first and the M feels like a different but familiar car, not just an engine upgrade. Granted that gap is closing on some models like M550i and BMW needs to be careful with that.

Everyone has to remember BMW is a corporation and they need to show continuous improvements in sales and profit to shareholders. How do you do that? Large part of marketing. M sells... in fact they really are the last ones to do it. And if that means more cars like the X3M are possible, great. And the haters need to realize cars like the X3M and X5M are a huge part in funding engine development for the M3 and M5.

All amazing cars. Test drove the M340i and immediately fell in love....had to order one. Unfortunately for me, the build took over 8 weeks and I got impatient. Saw a 6m/t M2 Comp. Both amazing in their own way. M2 for pure fun and M340 for practical speed that can be both comfortable and enjoyable.

Here are the specs from the M340i build. Sad when I saw it for the first time today, but the M2’s hips keep me content.

This is nothing. You should see the folks in the M3/M4 forums bagging on other peoples' cars because they don't have LCI headlights or tails. hah

Even better the guys who put "competition" badges below their M3/M4 badge. As if anybody gives a shit and the only people who would even know the difference already know.

Aren't M-Performance models just the same as regular M-Sport models though other than engine? I mean, the M340i is a great car, but its just a 340i that has the M-Sport package equipped. Exactly this. GFY bro. M340 vs ///M..... seriously? If we are going to talk about commuting at this point get a Nisan Leaf and GTFO. All of these cars are "overkill". They are beyond basic transportation. I don't care if it's your practical daily or if it's your garage Queen, 800 horsepower M5. Even a 320 these days is an "excessive" commuter car that will burn a Camry.

It's important to a lot of people to feel like they have something better than the other guy. BMWs are mass produced vehicles and anybody can walk into a dealership and get one. Nobody in here is special for owning one. We could all use a slice of humble pie.

That being said.. true M cars have always been better (within the same generation).
